Back to his original point. The X division hasnt been 'barely' above the wwe cruiser division, ever. Its always been a lot better, especially when talking about year one. So I disagree with that comment as well. There were times when it was pretty bad.

Does the WWE even have a Cruiser Division anymore, they haven't had a Champion in 2 months now. Also I just learned this fun fact, the CW Belt hasn't been defended at a PPV in a 1 on 1 match in 2 years.

Reading things like that is the reason I had such a Don West, "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" reaction in the first place. I guess I should have taken the five seconds to see who I was trashing when I made my, "This guy is full of crap!" post. I guess I screwed up, but that doesn't change the fact that his statement is beyond ridiculous.

Three times in a year is still pretty sad.

Three times in a year is still pretty sad. That is just solo, one on one matches. Since they realize that they don't do cruiser stuff well (mainly since the cruisers are going for every other title instead of just one), they got rid of the belt.

Well if we're talking one on one matches in two years, Kid Kash won it from Juvi at Armageddon 2005
Anyways, it looks like a good DVD, I already have two of the matches from other ones but I may consider picking it up for the other stuff

Back on subject of the DVD, I can't wait to get this. The weekly PPV days were some of my favorite days in TNA's history.

It's not true? Since when? Since .... TNA Year One Wow, not only did you flame the OP since he wrote the review but, also someone who works on the board's main site. I didn't know that. Oh well, it's too late to back out now. If they ban me, they ban me. I did break the board rules. I just didn't do it knowingly. I guess I'll go back and remove the offending words but since everyone's already read it, it probably won't make a diff. If anyone bans you for calling me a dumbass, let me know and I'll speak to RD directly. I can handle criticism. I think that TNA certainly wanted to make the X-Division their signature specialty, but I can't beleive anyone who has watched them over the last two years can still believe that. At least WWE cruisers get destroyed by Triple H, the main guy in the company. It takes eight cruiserweights just to get a slight advantage on a fat, ten years past his prime Bubba Ray Dudley. At that's just the tip of the iceberg. I like the X-Division as much as anyone, which is why it is so frustrating to see how it gets booked.

Jay Lethal beat 3D's asses for 5 minutes in a one on two situation after Abyss was taken out of the match (it was originally Lethal and Abyss vs 3D). 3D only got the advantage and win after cheating. Also, you can certainly argue that they dont qualify since theyre in the Tag division now, but MCMG beat 3D clean on ppv, and theyre in the role of 'representing the x division'.

You can certaily find small things here and there. Hell, TNA even books a clean finish now and then. But I can't believe any sane person could have been following TNA since Day One and truly believed the X Division has been pushed like something special. They are the red headed step child that only gets what they do get because the fans demand it, not because those in charge think it is the right thing to do.

They are the red headed step child that only gets what they do get because the fans demand it, not because those in charge think it is the right thing to do. Well I have to acknowledge that I haven't been following TNA since Day One. All I can only say that when I started watching in 2005 the X-Division was the center of the show. When impact first came to Spike TV, the most over wrestler in the company was AJ Styles, the X-Division champion. He defended the title in nearly every show. It reminded me when RVD held the TV title for two years in ECW. AJ was feuding with Christopher Daniels. They had a 60 minute iron man match on a ppv, how can that NOT be considered TNA pushing the division as something special? Nobody even remembers the world title match that month. Samoa Joe then got involved making it a three way feud leading to some of my favorite matches ever. If anything, I think those three raised the bar so high, that any X-division holders since then have had to work harder to measure up to those matches. Although Sabin and Senshi had pretty decent runs, I'll admit the division is not what it once was. Still, the current champion won by beating Kurt Angle, and the Sabin and Shelley beat the fat slobs in Team 3D. It seems the company may be about to put more emphasis on the division again. I personally think the X-Division title should be defended every show. And thanks for not being ticked off that I insulted you when I had no who you were. We get so used to going, "Russo's an idiot, MacMahon's a putz, Meltzer's braindamaged" that fans usually don't think twice about trashing guys we figure will never even read or care about our opinions anyway. I do apologize.

My girlfriend and I watched it a few hours ago. A few thoughts on it:
- I highly suggest reading Jerry Jarrett's book "The Story of the Development of NWATNA" before you watch this DVD, if you can find it. He describes some things in graphic detail (the HealthSouth situation, the Jay Haussman incident, Ron Killings, the importance of Jeremy Borash to the survival of TNA, etc) that the DVD only touches upon briefly. Oh... and do you guys think you hate Vince Russo? The elder Jarrett definitely has most of us on this board beat. My personal favorite quote:
"To me and to 90% of the Internet (which happens to be the only concrete feedback we have available) Vince Ruso represents EVIL on a scale that makes Jim Mitchell's evil appear to be a misdemeanor."
- Speaking of Jarrett and Russo, I wish that they would have been included on this. Their absences left a giant hole in the story.
- Don West is a surprisingly soft-spoken person for a guy who MAKES A LIVING TALKING LIKE THIS ALL OF THE FREAKING TIME!!!
- Can we nominate that Nashville-only television commercial as Wrestlecrap? Please?
- Who the hell is/was Athena? There were signs for her throughout the disc.

I am a fan & proponent of TNA, but even I will admit that their product & presentation was garbage in their first year. Other than the X Division and AMW, they really had nothing going for them at the time. The $9.95/week idea was stupid. I don't think I ordered even one of those ppv's. So I did not see Raven vs. Jarrett back then, but even with good build up I wouldn't go out of my way to see that match.
Anyway, I'll probably skip this DVD based on this review.

So far, I've only seen the documentary portion of the DVD. It's very interesting in a lot of ways, but there are some portions that drag a bit -- particularly in the two or three instances where you hear the same story from two different people, back-to-back, without much variation. It was great to hear the honesty of everyone involved, particularly when it comes to the original doubts about TNA's future. It was also great to see and hear from Dixie Carter for the first time. I'd never seen her before. Not only does she come across as honest, hard-working, loyal and gutsy, but she's all kinds of hot. I'm looking forward to seeing the matches (wishing there were more than four) and the extras. Like the original reviewer said, one thing missing is a "What Were We Thinking?" portion, hiliting the bad things of Year One.

The clips of Harris and Storm were good -- makes me wish I could have seen the whole match. And the tribute to Curt Hennig was nicely done.
