In other news, Takayama's belly just keeps on getting lower.

Chill out. Traditionally, in these big matches, the returning wrestler loses. Hell, they are rusty, they havent been wrestling in a long time. It makes sense. You cant look at everything from the US way of booking.

Right . It took TWO exploders, ONE regular Flowsion, and ONE avalanche flowsion to pin Kobashi!!
He was BERRIED by Misawa.

My quick summations of the match and the show. Thank you torrents.
Legit sellout. They made the stage smaller because they actually have a crowd behind the it to show for the cameras. Opening moments shows Kobashi arriving with Go carrying his bags (some things don't change) Right after the semi-main, HUGE "KOBASHI" chant. Everyone on their feet. Kobashi's tag partner Honda on commentary. Takayama has quite the gut on him. Lots of streamers once Kobashi entered the ring and after ring intros. Akiyama wants Kobashi to start and he obliges. Crowd is just super hot right now. Kobashi hits a huge chop to start for old times sake. Kobashi lights up Misawa's chest four minutes in along with Takayama's kicks in a combo. Kobashi and Takayama beat up on Akiyama for a bit, then Akiyama and Misawa isolate Kobashi. Crowd booes Misawa' elbows and cheers Kobashi's chops. After Kobashi gets to Takayama it's back and forth. Kobashi lights up Akiyama's chest in the corner while Akiyama looks like he's holding in a huge dump. I swear he chopped him over 100 times in that corner. Akiyama's chest is almost purple. Sleeper Suplex on Akiyama right on his head. f***! Crowd pops huge. Misawa breaks it up and I swear, everyone is booing Misawa left and right. After another good bit Kobashi hits a perfect moonsault on Akiyama for a two. Akiyama hits an exploder and running knee and tags out. After an exchange which includes a Tiger Driver, Misawa takes a half nelson suplex right on his head just like it's the mid-90's. Perfectly taken. Misawa pops right back up (why?) and eats a lariato. After a bit (somewhere in here, it shows Honda wiping away a tear) Misawa then takes an Everest German from Takayama. Kobashi's selling is great with his facials. Misawa eats another lariat and Akiyama barely breaks it up. Misawa barely avoids a Burning Hammer. After knocking Takayama outside, Kobashi eats an Exploder, a Roaring Elbow (for a two), an Emerald Flowsion (for a two) and finally a Avalanche Flowsion (right on his neck) puts him down. Crowd lets out an "awwww" and then stands in applause. When Misawa' music hits when the crowd normally sings "Mi-Sa-Wa!", instead they sing "Ko-Ba-Shi!". Crowd shots show more women legit crying. Annoucer sounds like he's crying. Kobashi's eye looks like it's swollen shut. After handshakes and bowing to the audience, Kobashi leaves up the entrance ramp (the other three leave out the side, giving Kobashi his moment) to a standing ovation. Crowd gives Kobashi a few bouquets of flowers and a sign says "Kobashi: Mr GHC"
Overall just a very fun and good match. Very emotional and very hot. Crowd was there the whole way. Just a great great moment in wrestling history and the kind of match where everyone got their licks in and everyone brought it.
Rest of the show looked really good from the bits and pieces. Definite pick-up once it comes out on DVD. I hpe NOAH can catch onto the wave they got here and produce a far-better product than they did in 2007. As the guy who reviews shows for puroresucentral.com put it "NOAH has the highest percentage of meaningless wrestlers of all promotions in the history of wrestling." And the sad part is that they have such a great array of talent they can use and have a product that can be so so good, but they waste it with minimal storyline development and meaningless matches. Hopefully 2008 will be a resurgence with Kobashi back to light a fire under everyone.

I'm just happy the man is back working, and more importantly healthy, but having said that...what the hell? Who the hell thinks "man takes mcuh time off to beat freaking cancer, thereby increasing his already legendary status, so, let's have him job in his return bout"? I'm sure the match was absolutely awesome, and I can not wait to see it, but, still. It's Misawa. that's what he does.

I just watched Kobashi's return and it was one of the most awesome spectacles I've seen. It was just so emotional. Even though he lost, he did it in an amazing way. I nearly jumped out of my seat when I thought he was going to hit the Burning Hammer. Misawa did look a bit rough, but hey; nobody can stay young forever. lol
Kobashi's reaction was absolutely unreal. I've never heard a crowd like that for any one person before. From that reaction, people would've taken a bullet for Kobashi if they felt they had to. It was one of the most amazing reactions I've ever heard, if not THE most amazing.
I recommend this match for everybody to see. For this one time, I am not ashamed to admit that my eyes started to water after watching this match.

What's Kenta Kobashi doing with Yutaka Takenouchi leader of the first years at Cromartie High School?

I just watched the entire match on Youtube.
I'm amazed at how strong Kobashi looks. You'd think being a year and a half removed from cancer surgery, he'd be a bit smaller and weaker. But not only is he as strong as ever, he hits a damn fine moonsault.

Having finally seen the entire match, I've gotta say I have no issue at all with KK taking the fall. The amount of punishment he took and how close he was to winning a few times, after all he's gone through, before finally needing TWO of one of the most deadly finishers of all time and staying down made it that much more emotional to me. That moonsault was possibly the nicest I've ever seen the big man bust out as well.
Also, Honda trying to commentate and pretty much just crying through the entire match was pretty damn touching.

Misawa wins, he's the champion. THat's what he should be doing.
I mean crap he dropped in 9 minutes to Samoa Joe in a tag match.
This was actually really good as I haven't seen Misawa move like that in 6 years.

What's Kenta Kobashi doing with Yutaka Takenouchi leader of the first years at Cromartie High School? Wait...which guy are you comparing to Takenouchi? I mean...Takenouchi's kind of...bald. So I don't see the resemblance to Takayama (whom I'm assuming is the guy you mean).
