I wouldn't say Wanderlei is the most overrated fighter in all of MMA, for a while there it was Arlovski. Now I would say 'Cro Cop' tied with 'the Iceman'. I'm not saying the two of them suck, far from it.... they're just not the unstoppable monsters that the hype machines have been telling us.

im glad this isn't sherdog, but wanderlei silva is the most overrated fighter in all of MMA Ok, that pisses me off. For some reason I'm thinking you've seen only a fraction of his fights. You obviously haven't seen the classic fights between him and Rampage, where he absolutely DESTROYED Page. Hell there second meeting was Fight of the Year. I think you've probably only seen his last two fights to make that statement. I am referring to his fight with Henderson where he was KO'd, and his fight with Mirko where he got KO'd by a vicious LHK. Who didn't get KO'd by Mirko's LHK in his prime in Pride besides Fedor, and Mark Hunt? Watch his pride fights with Yoshida, and his second fight with Page', both fights of the year. 3 time shootfighter of the year by WOL and 2 FOTY by WOL and other fight publications are exaggerations. I just don't like anyone from chute box to me, if you aren't from Red Devil, Black House, or sakuraba Im not going to pay too much attention Here's to the UFC signing gilbert melendez if it ever happens!

Ok so your personal dislike for a camp doesn't make you a bad fighter. Also, who was the guy who KO'd, and TKO'd Kazushi Sakuraba 3 times? Hmmmm, what was his name again, oh yeah, some no-name named Wanderlei Silva.... Count it, THREE TIMES, all within the first round no less. I don't know how you could ignore him after that!

Anyone see Cage Rage last weekend? Ross Pointon's cut was absolutely brutal, looked like he had a vagina on his forehead.
Really looking forward to UFC79, GSP-Hughes should be a helluva fight and Liddell-Silva shouldn't go past the first. Sokoudjou-Machida is another good fight and with Lister on the undercard it should be a good night.

I didn't even hear about it until you said something. I looked on Sherdog's forums and sure enough....
WOW. That was a vicious cut, really opened wide.

I like how many people think Matt Serra can easily beat Matt Hughes. Most people didn't even know who Matt Serra was before The Ultimate Fighter. And then he gets a good shot to the back of the head on GSP, and suddenly, he's the God of the Welterweight Division.
Please
Matt Hughes is proven to be an ELITE fighter, as well as GSP (I actually think GSP is the best). GSP vs. Hughes should be a great fight.

I dont know, chuck is obviously headed down the hill in his mma career and I'm predicting Silva will give it to him There is an interview with Matt Hughes on UFC and he brings up a good point: Hughes lost two fights in a row and thought he was going to retire, but he won the title soon afterwards and the rest is history. Just because Chuck has lost two fights doesn't mean he is going downhill That being said, since Silva is now training with XTreme Couture, I am predicting Silva

Both Wanderlei and Chuck have lost two in a row. However Wanderlei hasn't fought in a while and is more fresh while Chuck has got to have more wear & tear right now.
Liddell, at age 38 has got to be a bit past his prime right now, I don't think he can win the title anymore. However a lot of people thought the same about Couture when he lost to Liddell, but Couture hasn't been in as many wars as Liddell has. Hughes lost twice in a row too but he was a lot younger than Liddell.
I think Liddell's counter-punching style would work well against Wanderlei Silva IF he was in his prime but after seeing that Jardine match it doesn't seem like he can take advantage of the openings that Silva gives with his brawling style anymore. His reflexes are gone.
If he is right I think Silva will overwhelm Liddell from the opening bell and stop him quite easily unless he gets caught. But with a long break from fighting we don't really know what Silva has left either.
EDIT: Thanks, fixed it.

I know its just splitting hairs, but Liddell is 38 now.
I do like your analysis manchine, but honestly, I'm rooting for Liddell!

I'm liking GSP/Hughes more than Serra/Hughes. Chosing between Serra/Hughes is like chosing between a douche and a turd sandwich. I'm hoping that Silva/Liddell doesn't turn into a fight where each fighter is just looking to NOT get knocked out, i really hope they come out swinging. And is it me or is the under-card looking kinda blah?
I'm going with Mr. "I was not impressed by your per-form-ance" GSP and Silva for the wins!

My picks for tonight are Wandy over Chuck, Machida over Soukoudjo (or whatever) and Pierre over Hughes.

No way Sokoudjou is winning. Machida is just so much better. Just look at their records. 12-0 vs. 4-1, with the 12-0 being over great fighters.

I'm not selling Machida short, and I do think if the fight goes the distance then Machida has the advantage. However Sokoudjou is so explosive and we haven't really seen his grappling (Judo) which is his bread and butter.
