Uhhhh Fedor couldn't have signed the UFC contract if he wanted it. It banned him from combat Sambo fights in Russia, which is his national sport. And the guy is one of the most patriotic Russians around, and that would just be unacceptable for him to be unable to fight in his beloved sport of Sambo for the Russian people. And like said before, Choi is the best guy they could come up with. I think with Choi's long legs, Fedor will take him down with a takedown with little problem and win via GnP, but really no fault of Choi. Of course Choi was the best they could come up with and Fedor knew that. But if he wants to remain being called the greatest fighter in the world then he has to start fighting more top competition.

Just give it time. He just signed with an upstart promotion, they don't have money to throw around. No one will take him seriously until he fights a big name, and the only names people know are in the UFC. So keep waiting. Until Randy can sign with M-1, Fedor will keep fighting lower grade guys. Maybe if UFC would offer reasonable contracts, he would have signed with them.

I think both of you are right. However, UFC/Zuffa/Dana White's demands were simply ridiculous. St. Pierre was going to try out for the Canadian national wrestling team before Serra went down... we didn't see Dana White trying to stop that did we?

And between Fedor saying they offered a whack contract, and Randy saying he's been getting screwed in money, I have to think there is some truth to it. At first Dana was all like "Oh I can't wait, Fedor is one of the best" and then after Fedor says "no", Mr. White wants to say "Oh Fedor sucks, Randy will kick his ass."
OK whatever Dana. Bah, sorry about the rant there.

Fedor just submitted Choi in two minutes.
The size difference was ridiculous, Fedor tried to take Choi down but couldn't because Choi kept his balance and used his size to fall over Fedor. Choi tried to punch Fedor while on the ground, Fedor locked in an armbar but Choi powered out of it.
Choi pummeled Fedor and they both got back up. Fedor hit Choi with a leaping left hook but Choi didn't seem affected by it and took Fedor down. Choi started to swing wildly hoping to score a TKO but Fedor locked in an even tighter armbar and Choi had to submit as his arm was about to break.
Fedor looked beat up at the end but finished Choi with relative ease. Choi's wrestling skills and size advantage were underestimated by many but he didn't have any answer for submissions.
