Yeah, count me in for the "if it means something to you" crowd.
I do plan to eventually get a tattoo, but I will not get one just to get one. It has to feel right.
I might get a lucky koi one, like some people have, but that does have a legitimate meaning to me, one that is rather personal for me, otherwise I wouldn't mind saying what it is.
On the topic of "looks cool" ones, I might get the Irken logo somewhere on me.

Take note, that getting a tattoo in that particular part of the body is extremely painful. I got a tattoo on the same spot you plan on getting your's, and that part of the body is pretty bad. I got two others on my arm and my leg, and they were ok, but this one was pretty bad. It took about an hour and a half to finish off (but then again, it had a lot of colour, which I love in tattoos).
But yeah, get what you want anyway, but it is a tad painful. Also, if you're getting a tattoo, eat beforehand. Or else you'll get woozy and almost pass out if you get one. I know, lol.

If it's important to you. It's not tacky. The tattoo is for you, not for anyone else. I have Boba Fett's symbols tattooed on my chest. Most people would think I'm a nerd to have Star Wars tattoos. But I don't give a damn. I like 'em. Nerd? I'm probably going to go get a friggin' potato tattooed on my foot.

If you're talking about me, yowch, I didn't mean my nether regions. I was just stating I wasn't sure where I'd get it. Bicep ones only work if you're muscular, and I'm just an average dude.

I thought a few times about getting one on my shoulder or arm, but it'd end up being the smallest tattoo in the world. Not a whole lot of surface area to work with on these string beans. I'll have to stick to the chest and back until steroids are legalized and don't have any side effects.

Hey I'm considering getting a tattoo but im not sure about it. I want to get a picture of like jesus christ with a crown of thorns on my back or upper shoulder, but everyone says that its tacky. My friend wants to get a letter "B" on her wrist. Prepare for pain. A LOT of people say "Oh, it won't hurt that much" but either haven't gotten tattoos or their threshhold for pain is REALLY f-ing high. Don't get me wrong, it's gonna look great once it heals, but it's gonna require some serious grit on your part when that needle hits your back. Good luck.

Take an average sun burn, then have some one scratch at it with a needle. I'm no wuss, but it sure wasn't enjoyable. Then sit there for almost 4 hours with that to boot.

I only have 1 tat, so I'm no expert. But the price depends on the time taken, size, and amount of work en voled. I went to the shop, showed them my design and said I had 300 bucks to do it with. The guy sat down with me and discussed where I want and how big. It pretty much covers the outside area of my right shoulder (like CM Punks Pepsi and Cobra emblem). It ended up taking about 4 hours and ended up costing me 250.

Yeah. Your best bet is to find a picture of it in the exact size that you want, bring it to the studio (or several different studios), and show it to them. They'll usually give you a good estimate. Some places will give you a firm price. The less visits you have to make, the cheaper it will be.

I've also heard the armpit is worst. But that person may never have tried the lip. From personal experience, I can tell you that the nipple is pretty damn tough.

If you get an all over shoulder/chest tattoo like the Rock's, they're gonna be in the armpit.

Yeah, I think it'd be kind of different to get a tat that's only in your armpit. Very different. But I've seen it as part of a larger one a few times. Then again, I'm surprised by less and less these days.
