^ I really don't like the American Pie movies either and I will add Bring It On to that list as well.
Not to jump on the bandwagon here but I honestly did not like Napoleon Dynamite at all I went into it with an open mind but it was bad and not funny at all.
I also agree with the posters who said they hated Rushmore, Fargo and QT films.
I really don't like anything from Robert Rodriguez either. The only movie I own that QT and RR did that I kind of like is From Dusk Till Dawn, but it's more that I like the cast then the people who made it.
I also hate pretty much every movie that stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.
As for Donnie Darko I have never seen it so I can't judge it.

eh, it would be kinda hard to not do it in a dark fashion. But then that would ruin blind hatred. And let's be honest, is there any other kind of hatred? Seriously, check out some of the fine pieces of dog shit on Tim Burton's resume: Edward Scissorhands Ed Wood Sleepy Hollow Planet of the Apes Big Fish Charlie and the Chocolate Factory* Corpse Bride Sweeney Todd And they're all sooooo deliciously dark and awkward and different!!! * - I will forever loathe Tim Burton and what he stands for, purely based off of what he did to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. He took a great kids movie that we all grew up loving and turned it into a gothy, dark, nerdy piece of shit.

I'm sorry you grew up on the movie instead of the book.

And I was right. It was full of slaves, mechanisms to murder children and other devices that threaten the security of the state. More or less, a Mad Scientist Story where the guy happened to stumble across making yummy candy while he was probably trying to develop a way to blot out the Sun.

"Clerks" is the biggest piece of dog shit I have seen. I don't think it was funny at all. I watched the DVD a couple of times to see if I could get into it. I didn't and the dvd found it's way into the trash.
Now I did like "Clerks 2" a hell of a lot better. The first one is just shit.

Napoleon Dynamite - I did not laugh once. Didn't even crack a smile. I will never understand what's funny about this movie. more: Donnie Darko Eraserhead Eraserhead is definetly up there on the list of the worst movies I've ever seen. My dad warned me not to watch it because it was terrible, I should have listened.

That could be it, but then again maybe its the fact that the Gene Wilder version was a kids movie that kids can grow up on, whereas the Tim Burton version is a goth teenager's wet dream and not the kind of movie I'd expose to my children as they were growing up, as I was exposed to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when I was just a lad. I mean, seriously...the Oompa Loompas were all just one midget. Come on, Tim Burton. You're better than that.* * - Actually no you're not.

Ironically? Sweeney Todd is the best movie either one did in their entire careers. Also, what killed it was it wasn't a family friendly holiday film that came out during the end of December. Thus, it failed, while the family friendly National Treasure 2 and Alvin & the Chipmunks flourished. If Todd came out in say...mid January, then it would be a box office smash. I may be wrong (though I doubt it), but wasn't there also an issue with distribution? I read somewhere online that they had run into a problem with one company and it wasn't getting the size release it should have. Nah, that's also right, it wasn't distributed as it was meant to be.

Its strange you write all this anger over your nostalgia for the original because Burton's film is more faithful to the Dahl book than the Wilder picture was. Would you let your kids read the book?

Four words.
Rocky. Horror. Picture. Show.
I think the reason that I can't stand it is because I watched it AROUND the stoners that watch it religiously every weekend.

Gummo. That movie was an unwatchable mess with no discernible plot, that inaccurately portrays Xenia as a white-trash hellhole. The scene of the kid eating dinner in the bathtub is honestly the only thing I've ever seen in a movie that actually repulsed me. The only redeeming aspect of that movie is the soundtrack, which is another thing that pissed me off; how could a movie with such an awesome soundtrack NOT be awesome by default? I've never been mad at myself for watching a movie before or since I watched Gummo, and it's the only movie I ever openly bash. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! I know this was posted 9 pages back, but it deserves to be mentioned again Gummo was f***ing horrible.

The more I read The BRV's responses, the more I'm starting to think he hates Burton films because he may just hate the goths/punks that wear merchandise from his films.

There are very few cult films that I just absolutely hate. Even the ones I don't "get," I still appreciate them for what they are. My hatred is usually reserved for Hollywood "blockbusters" that, despite multi-million dollar budgets, still manage to be pure, formulaic crap.
For example, I'm not too big on the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I've never understood the love for it, and, in my eyes, the music is mediocre at best. But I'll still place it high above films churned out by Michael Bay or Paul Anderson.
(That's right, Rocky Horror Picture Show > Transformers.)

Is The Nightmare Before Christmas considered a cult movie?
If so, I vote that. Everyone raves about it, but I've seen it once and was unimpressed.
