I dont know about you guys but I get tired of a lot of threads getting locked, or deleted just because they discuss politics, religion, and other stuff that could cause an argument.
I love a good debate, and I'm sure many others here do too. I think we should have a board here at the crap that allows those kinds of discussions to take place.
This place has all kinds of intelligent, interesting posters from all walks of life, and I think a rant board would make for some great discussions.
I would like a place to discuss issues where moderation is fairly low, and only things like racial slurs get whacked. A place where a poster is truly free to express thought without having the mods telling them to tread carefully or you will get banned.
Just stick a warning on the front door of the forum for those that get easily offended. This place is great and all, but at times the general off topic can feel very restricted.
Like Queen said I want to break free, and I think many others here do also. I belive a rant board on this site would be a smashing success.

You can find a bunch of places like that around the internet. You just won't find one here.

In theory, that would be good, but ther would alays be a small portion of the posters who would drag debates from such a section out into the other "normal" sections.

I think there are plenty other places that can fufill that need for debate. Besides which I think the no politics/religion thing is a rule of the terms of service of ProBoards itself.

But if you like coming to this board, and dont want to go through all the hassle of finding another board why not add it in? Plus through our post we pretty much know eachother, so it'd be kinda cool to get into deep conversations, and for the most part i think everyone here is mature enough to handle that type of board. I kinda think it's insulting for them to think we cant handle certain talks.
Plus a board where things dont randomly dissapear would be nice.

Yeah i've thought that too, an unrestricted board section where anything goes. Only problem is people might carry over any grudges to other sections though. And aren't most of the rules because of Pro-Boards making something like this impossible here?

Hell, some people can't even discuss something as trivial as wrestling without flaming. Yeah i've thought that too, an unrestricted board section where anything goes. Only problem is people might carry over any grudges to other sections though. thats my reasoning as well.

Very true, and he said with low moderation not no moderation, of course most stuff would go, but some stuff stays intact. Still no wishing harm and all of that crap. Not everyone is mature enough but most are.

I still think there would be too much carry over into the pre-existing sections.

I still think there would be too much carry over into the pre-existing sections. I doubt it, I mean i rarely see people go into the WWE section and bitch about what is said in the offtopic discussion. Hell theres someone who got on my nerves last night with using gay as to mean a negative remark, but i didnt carry it over to any of his other post, i left it alone, and i think most people would be able to stay in the board with this as well.

but off-topic is pretty light-hearted as a rule, and would be especially light-hearted in comparison to what would be discussed in that section.
I mean, getting angry over movies and whatnot is one thing, but getting angry over something religious/political is something completely different.

That's why you set a warning and a list of rules, though a lot less strict then the general board.

That's why you get a mod who is responsible for that board only, that way to be able to keep better control and stick to the same rules all over. The problem with this is you can do something with one mod, but another mod will lock it. We need a board where we can openly debate anything but still have control. I believe the board is smart enough to do something like this.

I know that there are a lot of other rant boards out there in fact I belong to a few of them. But each place has its own special posters, and demographics that post in them.
This place for the most part is one of the most diverse places on the net. For that reason alone it would be a great place for such a board to exist.
As for carry over into other forums, if someone is immature enough to go around stalking, or bad mouthing a poster because of what they said in a rant forum, then they are not someone who should be posting here in the first place.
Heck put and age limit at the door if you want. There are plenty of other multiple forums that have rants, and I have never seen it carry over into the other forums.
If its a pro board issue I understand, but please don't insult me and the other reasonable posters on here by suggesting that we are not capable of handling mature discussions like grown adults. Something I happen to be BTW.

The no religion thing is not s pro-boards rule though, it's a WC rule, which is understandable for most sections, but a section dedicated to that type of discussion is needed. Let us voice our oppinion and get to know a little more about eachother, cause hell we spend most of our time togethor on here anyways.
