Haha, oh Cobra, I could never understand why the gang doesn't just give it up and move on to another victim. Half the gang gets wiped out by Stallone and they say "Hell, maybe the other half of our gang can kill him."
*They all die*
Stupid gang.

Last Action Hero.
Yeah its got its weakpoints, but the premise is certainly different and the various contrasts between the movie and the real world I thought was funny and interesting. Throw in some solid cameos (F. Murray Abraham, Ian McKellan, Danny Devito) and Arnold showing some decent range, and you have a solid film in my opinion.

I like it. Its supposed to be a spoof of action movies and the cliches that come with them. If it was bad well that was the point.
Yes a spoof. A spoof of action movies mixed with a story about a kid that gets a magic ticket letting him go into the movies.

I'll try and answer that: Pros: - Steve Jablonsky's score. - The CGI, as already pointed out. Leaps and bounds ahead of anything else. - Shia LeBeouf, Hugo Weaving, Peter Cullen, Josh Duhamel...viz. very good acting with what they had to work with. - Barricade - Gigantic robots kicking ass. The movie is called Transformers. Its based on a show that was a 30 minute toy commercial. How fleshed out does the story need to be? Would you rather there be intelligent dialogue like A Few Good Men and action that 'makes sense'? Wait.... A FEW GOOD MEN was an intelligent movie? ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png) It's a glorified JAG episode. Anyway, as for your argument....unless I'm mistaken, 4 of your 5 Pros involve CGI and/or action involving CGI. Your only distinct point besides my statement is Bay's music monkey. LOL@ music monkey. While the score is good, Trey Parker and Matt Stone made an awesome point on the DVD commentary for the "South Park" episode "The Day Before the Day After Tomorrow" - in talking about "Day After Tomorrow," a film that features Jake Gylenhaal being literally chased by global warming and a 20-minute sequence where it turns into a "wolves chasing people" movie - the music is always good. The score is really the ONLY reason that a lot of these big summer CGI/action epics are even watchable. It's almost like the music is saying "hey, this isn't really as crappy as it looks."

Bulworth, Bulworth, 1,000 times Bulworth!!!!!!!!!!!!! I f'n love this movie. A pretty good movie indeed...... I'm still surprised his Democratic Party in California didn't excommunicate his ass for the harsh truth in that great church sequence.

Taxi Driver... I love it. The mood, the main character's development throughout the film, everything. I guess some people find it boring.
Also, I can't see how so many people hated Napoleon Dynamite. During the year it came out, it seemed like so many movies were all the same. That one came along, and was just so... different to say the least, and kinda weird, but in a silly way. I wouldn't call it one of the best 50 movies ever, but I thought it was just a breath of fresh air, and didn't take itself too seriously. What is so bad about it that people have hate threads devoted to how terrible it was? I don't get it.

I don't think it's so much the film Napoleon Dynamite that people hate so much (I really didn't like it, for the record.) but at the time it came out there were two factors that went into my hatred for it. 1) I was a projectionist at a cinema when it came out. And given the huge number of college age kids in this area, the film stayed at the theater for 3 months! I was damn sick of being around it by then. 2) It should be legal to hurt people who do bad Napoleon Dynamite imitations. It's died off now, but for a while it was at Austin Powers levels. I really wanted to hit the next person I heard say "GOD!" like he does in that movie.

The same people who hate TAXI DRIVER are the same ones who rather pay their hard-earned money, willingly and gleefully, on MEET THE SPARTANS before THERE WILL BE BLOOD.
