That's what i loved about the Original trilogy Luke progressed in the 3 films from Whiny, Happy boy to just plain badass (I liked him in Jedi).
Unlike the Prequels in which Anakin was a Whiny git in all 3 films

R2D2's memory may not have been wiped. He seemed to remember some things in Ep 4 that C3PO did not. The thing is that R2 knew that Luke's father was Anakin Skywalker, but the fact that he was known to the galaxy as Darth Vader was not something that he would have known. He also would not likely have known that Leia was Luke's sister. He would have known that Organa took Luke's sister to hide her, but how would he have known that Bail did not ask a servant or friend to adopt her?
Also, R2D2 still has his rockets, but like a lot of old machines owned by rebels they no longer work.

Here's a Star Wars question for everyone to ponder.
Do you think we'll ever get the original versions of the trilogy on DVDs that aren't glorified bootlegs?

No Maybe in the Super Duper maxi ultra extreme box set we get soon. I just want 1996 "Jedi" to honest, i thought the changes were decent and it has Sebastian Shaw at the end.

I don't think so, but I can't comlain too much about the ones that came out last year. The only thing that's missing is the 5.1 surround sound. I'm really just happy to have them until the next format for home video comes out.

The only reason he knows he's looking for Obi-Wan is because Leia told him to go find him. He seems to know more then C3-PO, but that's only because C3-PO wasn't told to find Obi-Wan as he stumbled in on the conversation and recording of the message at the last minute.

Oye, poor poor Luke...one line...ONE FRIGGIN' LINE and he's branded whiney bitch for life. Han has two f'ing words and he's dubbed the coolest god ever birthed in any form of media.
"But I was going to Tashi Station to buy some power converters!"
Oh Mark Hamil, of only you had never said that damn line.
Luke is cool, I like the guy and I think he's just as..if not more...badass than Mr. "I know." Han Solo.

I'll go with "because they wanted to keep their PG rating."

The Droids got their memories wiped. It blatantly says that at the end of Episode III. Just because they don't mention R2 by name doesn't mean they don't get him as well. that would make more sense but he specifically says "the protocol droid" if they just said droids id be happy to accept it
