Jimmy Jacbos I thin put it best when he said that "Love Doesn't Save!" Love is a emotion pushed onto us as a society to try and make us conform to ideals of relationships. All it really does is set us up for failure when it doesn't work out. It's the one day of the year where people who are single are pointed out as failing at something to other people come so easy, sometimes easy enough that they abuse it. these are my feelings... take them or leave them Wow, busted out the AotF quote. Very nice. I'm pretty indifferent to VD. I'll probably just go have a beer with one of chick friends and watch Robot Chicken. Hell, even when I did have a GF on Valentine's Day, we celebrated with Champagne and a 20 piece Chicken McNugget. That was it |

Enough with the holiday bashing. Our lives are solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short as it is, condemning the Feast of St. Valentine for it's commercial aspects is silly. For when God created man, the first defect he saw was that he was alone. Thus he created woman and told them to people the Earth, to end that state forever. You see, erotic love is not just a base emotion of teenagers, it is the engine of life, by which humanity fufils it's Creator's first command. And it's not just erotic love in particular, it's love in general. Eros, Agape (Charity), Philia(Brotherhood), the three loves are a animating force of human existance, causing us to act and calling forth the very best in our species, serving as our ideal and defining our purpose. The best knowlege of St. Valentine says he was executed for performing marriages when the Roman Empire had banned them, a tribute to their importance. I may despise this day, I may fear it's coming every year. But that it celerbrates one of the few rays of light in this dreary existance, I do not doubt. Do not allow these trinkets to cloud the true importance of this holiday. If you do that, then they would diminish love by associating it with wealth win.

Can you try to guess the men/women ratio at a single's party on Valentine's Day?  Hmm, maybe it's just where I live, but usually there's more girls out. Even if there's more guys, those girls at the bar are going to be smokin for some pokin. You can put me under the single losers club. I'd LOVE to go to a singles bar. The problem is that I don't drink. *hits head* Are you serious? You don't need to drink at the bar. |

I'm currently single but over the years Valentine's Day has always been a great day to start a relationship. I've had quit a few of them begin on that day, probably primarily because it gets chicks all in the romantic mood to reveal their "true" feelings. That said, I haven't been on a date since August and have had 3 offers for dates that are all pretty hot on Thursday. I denied them all because I'm at a point in my life where I'd rather sit home alone and get drunk watching TV and playing on the net than I would go out in socialize. I might have a problem with that mentality, but screw it that's what makes me happy more than any relationship drama ever did.
