Don't get me wrong i liked "No country" but the ending ruined it for me (My opinion, deal with it). I thought "Blood" was great from start to finish And I accept that it is your opinion. I was just content with Daniel Day Lewis winning Best Actor.

there will be blood Excellent film See, to me, it didn't matter who won Best Picture, as long as either No Country For Old Men or There Will Be Blood won it, I owuld be happy. You didn't like Atonement?

there was no payoff
you were basically following 2 characters for about 70 mins during a tense cat & mouse chase, but then the main character you've been following is dead (Offscreen) and i was just thinking "WTF? is that it".
And i like ambiguous endings but i thought "no country's" didn't work

Speaking of Bale.... How about Michael Mann's PUBLIC ENEMIES? Johnny Depp as Dillinger, Bale as the lawman after him, David Wenham as Peter Pierport, Stephen Graham as Baby Face Nelson, Marion Cotillard* as Billie Frechette, Channing Tatum as Pretty Boy Floyd, Giovanni Ribisi as Alvin Karpis and Stephen Dorff as Homer Van Meter. From the Director of HEAT and COLLATERAL and THIEF...bitchin. *=Who won Best Actress last night. WOW! I haven't even heard of this but I gotta check this out. When is it getting released? Fall 2009, and considering its a Universal production, I guess they hope it'll do as well as AMERICAN GANGSTER did in theatres. Hell, PUBLIC ENEMIES came about as the WGA got settled early, and Depp had a massive hole in his schedule in Spring 08, of which he could do after Leonardo DiCaprio (who was supposed to play John Dillinger originally) got himself busy with Martin Scorsese's SHUTTER ISLAND.

I was left holding my breath. Wow.....This is a masterpiece. Whatever its better than THERE WILL BE BLOOD or not, that's a debatable issue. Both are masterpieces that will be remembered fondly 20 years from now, and you all will take pride that you saw it in the old movie theatres, before thar Blu-Ray and DVD killed them!

Since the Oscars completely bombed in the ratings, do you think Stewart will be back?

And i like ambiguous endings but i thought "no country's" didn't work I think that's a kind of trap people fall into, in that those two aren't necessarily the main characters. Tommy Lee Jones is listed first in the credits and his character opens and closes the movie. I always liked this explanation that actually deals with your complaint in a way: www.startribune.com/entertainment/movies/15107771.htmlBut you can't like everything and I'm not trying to say you should like the ending, just seeing if I can give you something that may add to the ending for you. If not, oh, well.

Since the Oscars completely bombed in the ratings, do you think Stewart will be back? Sadly, probably not. I say that because I thought he was pretty good. God knows his NORBIT joke was da bomb. "Normally the Academy doesn't recognize movie that aren't good." Too bad he'll be given the rap for the ratings failure. What annoys me is that you have morons going on about how "popular" movies should have been nominated, and I shake my head. The only "popular" movies that arguably deserved to be nominated or in contention was 3:10 TO YUMA, THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, and AMERICAN GANGSTER. When Bill O'Reilly said TRANSFORMERS should have been nominated.........................people don't know what the hell they are talking about.

Most of the popular movies of 2007 year were not of Oscar caliber, although the 2008 ones could be even worse.

Either way, a book about the "Public Enemy" era of the 1930s, with the John Dillinger/Pretty Boy Floyd/Babyface Nelson/Bonnie & Clyde robbing & shooting up the country....and the FBI coming into power as the legitimate national enforcer of the law. Its good material to work with for a picture. But damn, Johnny Depp and Christian Bale....two of the best damn actors of our generation.....working together? In a Michael Mann crime movie? ORGASM!

When Bill O'Reilly said TRANSFORMERS should have been nominated.........................people don't know what the hell they are talking about. Ha ha. In that link I just gave, in the first letter about No Country, the writer also rips into Bill O'Reilly's grasp on movies. Also, Bill is insane. As much as I enjoyed Transformers, there is no way it deserved to be nominated for anything other than technical awards.

Two of my favorite actors and one of my favorite time periods, it sounds great to me. I'm very picky about what movies I see and this makes the list of ones to see on opening day.

Loved his take on TWBB: "2 hours about oil, but nothing you can with oil." You all know where the Clooney/O'Reilly beef came from, right?
