Poor Placido Polanco. Goes something like 178 games without an error, now has one in back-to-back games. Way to go, Placebo!

Jeez! Can Kyle Kendrick throw a friggin strike? 6 walks in 2 innings! 6 walks!!! 0 hits and 1 unearned run given up. The Mets should/could have made him pay and be into the Phils bullpen by now. Thankfully, we're still tied 1-1. Can we have fielders that actually know how to field. Charlie Manuel sucks balls at managing. I'm sorry, but last year was 90% the team playing well and 10% Charlie. Every f***ing year this team takes a giant dump in April. Why this guy has a job I have no clue. This inning would have been over 3 runs ago with Rollins playing. Why not put someone else in at short? This guy is awful. And our 3B is severely overrated. And our catcher. But especially Manuel. Good god this team looks too inconsistent.

I'd rather have Willie Mays Hayes start. Anyway you can contact Wesley Snipes Samoa?

Scott Downs just saved himself a very, very harsh post on these boards about how useless of a reliever he is. Just barely though...he loaded the bases and just about gave up our lead.
I still say he's next to useless and should be traded.
EDIT: I'll rephrase that, since the good people at The Score are saying Ryan Sweeney was an idiot for swinging at something so high on a full count...thanks to Sweeney, Aaron Hill and David Eckstein, we're still on top.

Due to the crappy weather in KC, Girardi decided to hold Ian Kennedy for the later innings, just in case the game would be delayed due to rain. A surprisingly good move by the skipper... until he trotted Farnsworth out there. Now that the Tigers have finally won a game, a profound question is when the smurf the Yankee offense is going to bother to show up.

So satisfying it was to watch The Brew Crew get thumped 12-4 yesterday after the stingy affair that was the previous day's game. Reds improve to 5-3 and steal one from the as of yet can do no wrong Brewers. No one cares but me. Also, LOL at meaningless Bill Hall HR. (a "Reds Killer" as they say) Somehow he's far less fearsome with a nine run lead. Go figure.

I've been trying to write more music recently, just to get the old brain working again. Here's what I came up with:
"Scott Downs is the Worst Pitcher Ever" by Daniel Parkhill
Scott Downs is the worst pitcher ever Scott Downs is the worst pitcher ever If we had 10 Scott's in the bullpen I'd soon become a Yankees fan He even gave the Athletics 15 hits I'd rather take A-Rod than his bullshit 'Cause Scott Downs is the worst pitcher ever Scott Downs is the worst pitcher ever

Here's a column from about ten years ago that I found. It confirms something that I was sure of back in 1997: that Pedro Martinez was nearly traded to Cleveland. And what's worse, look at the guys that John Hart wouldn't part with to get him.
Jaret Wright, who had one decent season in his rookie year; Russell Branyan, who is the epitome of a one-tool player (great power, nothing else); and Enrique Wilson, who gets the bat knocked out of his hands.
And this was for the REIGNING NATIONAL LEAGUE CY YOUNG AWARD WINNER.
It still bugs me to this day.

Shane Victorino is something. The guy is my kind of ballplayer.
