I've never sat all the way through The Omen, but it was flicks like that and The Exorcist that really defined "horror" for me. I enjoy them much more on that level than I do slashers.

I have to say that i found the meeting on the island somewhat hilarious. Seriously it just looked like a bunch of future scooby doo villains. The evil campmaster etc. Also one of the deaths was seriously below standard, basketball to the face, they might not hold grudges but i do.

Btw, has anyone here seen "Omen IV: The Awakening?" I had plans on watching it while I was watching "The Final Conflict," but decided against it after seeing this film. This movie seemed to wrap things up rather nicely; so, did "The Awakening" suck or was it fairly decent? Omen IV. Where to begin. First off, let us state that it was not a theatrical release, but a made-for-tv-movie. This brings us into some non-story or acting elements. One of the first things you will notice is the music. Gone are the rich orchestral pieces of the first three movies, and is instead replaced by bland situational music that one could reasonably expect to be heard on elevators or on regular television shows that do not cater to a hip audience. The next thing you will notice is the pacing, where the story comes across as feeling rushed and thrown together, almost as if they tried putting what could be four hours of movie into 100 minutes. It is through this pacing that we are denied real character development and are denied a chance to connect with the characters. While they were going for religious symbology, and in particular one repeating symbol, the attempts at executing such symbology were so poorly done that they were laughable. Gone is the strong Biblical foundation that guided the previous three movies. Instead, it is a slightly disjointed continuation from the prior three movies using medical jargon as a lame connector to the prior movies. The medical jargon, however, in conjunction with some canon established in the first film, did effectively set up the possibility of this being the first movie in a second trilogy. I would go into more detail, but I believe that should leave you with a decent enough impression of the movie.

The basketball to the face directly lead to the victim being hit by a taxi, and was easily under the guise of an innocent accident by the perpetrator, so I don't see the problem with that.

I actually thought the remake was kinda good. Not as good as the original obviously but not horrible either.
