Wow, a season of Alex Rodriguez without April or May? Without those two months to play, he's going to finish batting .185 with 10 HRs and 40 RBIs.

Also, for anyone intrested in milestone history, Smoltz is gunning for 3,000 K's tonight. He's only 4 away.

I should delete your post just because I can Insomniac. I would be interested to see how many of those K's did come against pitchers though. It's not always that easy to K them. To get them out yes, but not always a K. A lot of times they are just trying to bunt people over or ground or pop out. We could also say "Yeah but it's in the NL, where pitchers can't always pitch 7-8 innings even when they are going well because they have to be taken out for pinch hitters if it's a close game because there are no stupid DH's."

No, we won't be saying that. We'll stick with what I said BTW, 373 of his Ks came against the pitcher.

Beckett scratched from tonight's start due to a stiff neck. Dave Pauley called up from Pawtuckett to make a spot start. Looks like the California Anaheim Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will actually have a chance tonight.

Must've got an E.D. pill stuck in his throat. Get it? Stiff Neck? E.D.? OK, now it's not funny. Forget it.

Mets get their ass handed by the Cubs again. Lots of odd decisions by Willie again. Who the hell plays the infield in with bases loaded?

Because of various injuries, sicknesses, and having to make changes after Beckett was scratched, the Red Sox bench for tonight will consist of the following:
Jed Lowrie
That's it. Dustin Pedroia is the emergency catcher should Kevin Cash get hurt. It'll be a miracle if Boston pulls off the win tonight.

Oh, I know you are just messing around with me Insomniac, but I do feel the need to state to remember that Smoltz is 4 away from 3,000 AND he spent 3 1/2 years in the bullpen as well as on the DL sometimes.
Quite frankly, Smoltz has been a pleasure for this Braves fan to watch his whole carrer.

He'll make a good utility outfielder for them. The Rays have a promising outfield, and Gross was lost in the shuffle in Milwaukee.

Congrats on Smoltz reaching the 3K K mark. Just got announced on the Jays game. He went seven innings and gave up a single run. Which actually raised his ERA.

Quite frankly, Smoltz has been a pleasure for this Braves fan to watch his whole carrer. Oh, I'm not messing around. I'm 100%* serious when I say that Smoltz needs an asterisk next to his name when they give him credit for 3000 Ks. It's a tainted number and everyone should know it. *: 100% = 0%It is nice that he's spent all his career with the same team and will end his career with the Braves. You rarely see that in sports anymore. And the Red Sox overcame the sucktitude of Dave Pauley and his hanging sinker, and have taken a 6-5 lead against the California Anaheim Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (further known as CALAAOA). Julio Lugo now batting an astonishing .329, after being as low as .238 10 days ago. My mind is going to explode any second. And Jacoby has 2 HR tonight. He has an OBP up around .470 now.

Great game pitched by Smoltzie tonight, but it looks like he's going to get the tough luck loss.
Especially after Campillo just turned what should have been an inning ending double play into a run scoring, not out getting error.
They said he was the 6th fastest to ever get to 3,000 K's, and taking his bullpen years into account that is amazing to me.
