Okay, it's my first time playing through Red, and I've just left Saffron City(Some people may know EXACTLY where this is going, just from that). I'm a little past the grass gym, I forget the name of the city, and I run into a field and who should I encounter but that ASSHOLE! Doduo. Well, the battle proceeds as normal, and I wanna catch the bastard. Well, I've just left Saffron City, and I only have one ball left. Care to venture a guess what my uneducated ass did with my MASTER BALL?! You didn't...oh god you're not kidding...you threw it at Doduo...WHY?!?

Oh yeah, and Safari Zone ruled. I cannot tell you how many times I tried to memorize the exact pattern to the secret house to get the Surf HM. And also, the Pokemon there you couldn't get like anywhere else. I still fondly remember catch Pinsir and Chancey in particular.

Abra, Ponyta, and a third Pokemon were pictured on the instructions booklet page talking about three legendary pokemon; then, the first time I met an Abra, he teleported away, so I thought I had lost it forever!

seems like a once in a million glitch. Believe me, it was. That game got deleted by some inconsiderate, and since then I've spent many a time going up and down that same strip of land, vainly hoping it might happen again. So far, no luck. On a lighter note, I think it's funny that this thread showed up around the time I was posted in the interview corner, with this as the pic I chose.... I actually remember that! That was from the Burger King promotion for Pokemon: The First Movie back in '99, and they were giving those toys away for $1.99 plus meal. I may still have my Koffing spinning top at home somewhere...

I never played either of those but a long time ago I decided that if I did, I would want a marowak. Is a marowak even a good pokemon?

I did, and to this day I hate that two headed freak mother f***er. Also, I've always had a weird "thinking way too deeply about the cartoon" question about Blastoise. What kind of creature evolves metal water jets? Or, for that matter, what kind of animal mysteriously finds a spoon or two during the evolutionary process, and decides to hold onto that f***er for life, in regards to Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam.

My biggest question with that stuff is why has there not been a slick more adult oriented knock off? It seems so easy. The core of pokemon is just old timey element v. element and leveling, item usage, startegy and such. I'd mark for a true to life, gritty monster game. That's what's cool about those Monster Ranchers. You can be a slave driver. Control your monsters with fear and withhold food foor unnacceptable performance and stuff.

I still hold that the Abra evolution line is the best on account of the simple fact that he grows facial hair. Even the female Alakazams in later games have a moustache, making that line of pokemon the manliest there is.

I'm ashamed to admit I was a little late on the Pokemon craze and as such, Yellow was my first game. That damn Pikachu came in pretty handy a lot of the time, actually. I was the first person in my school to catch all 151 Then I got Silver on import, and became both the first person to have the game in my school, then the first person to catch all 251. OK, I had to Gameshark Celebi, but I got Mew legit from a Nintendo event! The later games kinda sucked the fun out of it, with all these newfangled monsters and all the secret areas and quests and shit. Give me the 251 and the Johto/Kanto twin worlds any day.

Me and my brother had a copy each so had all 3 starters from the beginning and it was easy to catch 'em all, the game was a lot better that way. Articuno was clearly the best though, he beat pretty much everybody.
The only problem was that we traded most of my gameboy collection for the two games, most weren't a loss but I still mourn the loss of Links Awakening.
At 23 I'm slightly embarrassed to admit to buying pokemon pearl for nostalgia and somehow managed to put nearly 100 hours into it, mainly the global trading thing, that was addictive.
Finally, good work to whoever has the Cuebone avatar, he's got to be the best designed pokemon there is.

I never played either of those but a long time ago I decided that if I did, I would want a marowak. Is a marowak even a good pokemon? YES, YES AND YES. But only in the later versions. It's very slow, has low HP, slightly above average defence, and average everything else. But if you make it hold a Thick Club, which is a very rare item only found on 5% of wild Cubones (and you can only catch Cubones in a certain place on certain days), its attack stat DOUBLES, giving it the highest attacks stat in the entire game by nearly 100 points (at about 560~). I have one with maxed out Attack and it doesn't matter what the other guy uses, if they don't take down my Marowak in their first turn, their Pokémon is getting KO'ed in one hit. I like to send out something to boost speed then Baton Pass it along to Marowak so it gets to go first, too. And if I get s Swords Dance in, it's basically overkill. BUT it dies very quickly.

Yes i am cool like that

That picture is outstanding. What always annoyed me but was why the Pokedex listed big-ass pokemon such as Blastoise and Charizard as only 6"foot. Surely they're far bigger than that..

"I like shorts. They're nice and comfy!" *BATTLE* The first time playing through Blue, I ended up using my Master Ball on Psyduck.
