John,
Now that you've relocated to Houston, have you become a fan of any Houston-area pro sports teams, or any in Texas? I'm a huge Rangers and Spurs fan, and I just wanted to get feedback from you.
Also, do you plan to settle down in Houston for good?

I have to admit although I'm not a huge fan of any particular Houston team, the Astros did get me watching the playoffs. I keep an eye on the Rockets, but because of shaq jumped on the Heat bandwagon happy to see him do so well and Kobe's team so poorly. I'm a huge college football fan. Because I went to LSU they'll always be #1, but since I now live in Texas, and my daughter wants to attend UT I guess I'll join Dusty Rhodes in being a Longhorn fan. At this point we are planning to reside in Houston until something in our lives make us move. 'Quake

Well, as a fellow Texan, I officially send a 'Howdy' and welcome you to my home state! Just watch out for weirdos who wear assless chaps...they do exist.

Hey Slim, how about if I tell you about the great respect I have for your Hogs? We never know what to expect from you guys year to year. You have a great history of beating us Tigers! 'Quake

That'll work. It's always a wild game isn't it? How do feel about Saban leaving?

I feel let down. He had a contract to be the highest paid college coach, but I guess when the pros offer you millions more it can make a man's loyalty change. I guess soon the mags will be out with their predictions. Southern Cal could be scary again. 'Quake

'Quake,
Is LSU's baseball team still any good? They were dominant when they had Skip Bertman as their coach. I stopped keeping up with them after he left, though.

When I saw ratings awhile back I believe they were in the top 10. I'm not sure at this point, though. 'Quake

My guess would be it'll be televised since it's the defending champs vs. an SEC team.. and we can at least agree the SEC is the top conference right? But I don't hold out a whole lotta hope for me enjoying the game.. as I said the Hogs finished 5-6 last year WITH Matt Jones, and I think the front runner for the qb slot is Alex Mortensen- who? exactly. His claim to fame is he's ESPN's Chris Mortensen's kid, Dunno how that'll translate to passing abilities but here's hoping. Especially when it gets time to take back the Golden Boot ya know? ;D

Hook Em! They my favorite Big 12 team. I cannot wait for September 17 when my two favorite programs go at it, Ohio State and Texas.

Fuzzy, thanks for the tip. I just picked up a pair for my wife! Yeehah! Slim, that's what I'm saying about the SEC. Arkansas isn't neccessarily a bad team look who they compete against. The Vols and Auburn screwed up LSU's season. I kept hoping for a Souther Cal upset by Cal, and ND but it didn't happen. I'd have loved auburn against SouCal but that didn't happen either. Maybe UA will be in upset mode in that game. 'Quake

I'd love to see the upset Quake, no lie. Curious to see how Urban Meyer is gonna do down in Florida as well. Heck Spurrier at SC too.. should be interesting this season.

I think it was ESPN that mentioned, what if Spurrier rehired his ex-assistant, (I already forgot his name-coached UF last year) and made SC an SEC powerhouse. Dan Ohio State-Texas should be good. Why is August so far away? Urban did great at where he was, so I think once he gets adapted he should do great with all the extra athletes he'll be able to recruit from. 'Quake

Quake,
Do you think football players should be able to jump from high school to the pros, a la the NBA and MLB?

I think Zook is head coach at Illinois now. So what do you think of Les Miles, 'Quake? Have you seen the "Let 'er rip" clip from an old OSU/OU game. His halftime interview soulds like a wrestling promo. He definately seems more passionate than Saban, but I probably prefer Saban's businesslike approach.
