Dear Mr. Tenta~
I have been sitting here, just staring at my computer screen, trying to figure out exactly how I want to write this. The only reason I joined this forum, was to write this message. Like I said, I can't figure out exactly how to write this, so I'll just come out and say it...
THANK YOU
Last year, when I originally heard about your battle of cancer, it really hit with me, because my dad was just diagnosed with cancer last year, also. I have always wanted to be able to say this to you, and for that matter, all wrestlers.
I have been a fan of professional wrestling since the age of six (I am 20, now). So, growing up, I was treated to the likes of Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Jake Roberts, ect. However, one team was my favorite. That was The Natural Disasters. It wasn't because you were the fastest in the ring or anything like that, but all of my life, and including right now, I've always been heavy. So, I was also a fan of the fats guys (no offense... LOL).
I also remember when you returned to the WWF as Golga. I hated the fact that you were stuck with that gimmick, but none-the-less, I knew deep down that it was you under that mask. One summer, I remember hearing on the radio, "Meet former WWF Superstars Doink the Clown and Golga at..." (it was at a local car dealship). So, I got into the car with my parents, drove to that car lot and I was so excited to meet you. I went running over there, met "Doink" and than came over to meet "you." Well, when I got over there, there was this little guy, weighing no more than 150lbs soaking wet. I just stood there, jaw dropped, and looked at him. He waited for the other kid to turn around and said to me, "I'm sorry." It was kinda funny, but I was really looking forward to meeting you. I was gonna ask you to take the mask off, and just let me get a photo with the REAL 'Earthquake.'
You know, it's funny memories like that, that just make me smile, and hopefully, are doing the same for you. I know you aren't giving up on this thing, and I know the Quake will continue on, but before that day that He decides is your time, and/or my time, I just wanted to say, from the bottom of my heart, Thank You. You gave me years of entertainment, and were always that "fat guy" I could look up too (once again, no offense... LOL).
I know a lot of people on this website are gonna say that I'm just trying to suck up to you, but they can believe whatever they want.
So, Quake, I will continue to visit this site, to hear how you are doing, and once again, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.
Sincerely,
Ray 'Reptile' Mattern
