Hi John,
There is a new dvd coming out by the WWE that basically craps on the Warrior's reputation. What are your thoughts on this seeing that you worked in the WWF during the height of his popularity.
Do you think that vince is being too much of a child for releasing a DVD to disrespect one of his former workers?

If I could add on to that....if Warrior had been unprofessional in the ring with you as he (allegedly) has been with others such as dropping you awkwardly to the floor (as did to Heenan) or whacking you from behind when specifically asked not to and also at a time when you were not expecting it - how would you respond to him in the ring?

I'm somewhat surprised that the dvd would disrespect Warrior. Especially since he was pushed so hard back then. I of course haven't seen it so can't comment on it. I never had a problem with Warrior. I'd have had a problem with him if I thought he was not protecting me as I would protect him, but that didn't happen. 'Quake

At WWE.com the title is called "The self-destruction of the Ultimate Warrior". It doesn't look like it is full of compliments.

How was Warrior backstage? was he a joker, a lonely guy? an ass kisser, a social guy, a weirdo, someone who had special treatments(like Andre and Hogan), a very normal guy.
Who were his friends backstage? i want to know more about the guy, he was my favorite as a kid

If WWE HAS to do a Warrior DVD, it should be budget-priced and contain the following matches: UW- The Honky Tonk Man for the IC Title, SummerSlam 88 UW-Rick Rude [RIP], IC Title, WMV UW-Rude, IC Title, SummerSlam 89 UW-Hulk, WMVI UW-Savage, WMVII Hulk/UW-Triangle of Terror, SummerSlam 91 UW-Savage, SummerSlam UW-HHH, WMXII

if you check out the trailer for it, they totally bash him, with Vince saying "I couldnt wait to fire him" HHH saying "He's the most unprofessional guy I've ever worked with" (HA!) and the narrorator saying he "vanished, never to be seen again". Funny stuff.

I don't think that the DVD has been released yet, but my local Wal-Mart had it on the shelves last Friday, so I went ahead and bought it. It is a total burial of the Warrior. There's a lot of talk about how his matches had to be short, because he had no idea what he was doing in the ring. Also, they go into detail about how his promos never made sense (which is true), and about how he allegedly hijacked Vince for more money by threatening not to go out for a match that was to take place mere moments later.
Perhaps the most shocking allegation on the DVD is that Warrior did NOT leave WWF initially because of an upcoming feud with Nailz. Vince himself indicates that Warrior was fired because he failed a drug test.
Essentially, this DVD is a time for Jim Ross (who wasn't even with WWE during Warrior's initial run) and others to trash the UW. Heenan displays outright disdain for the man. It's interesting, but I imagine the truth lies somewhere between this version and Warrior's.

Vince himself indicates that Warrior was fired because he failed a drug test. i wasn't the whole roster on steroids at the time(with the exception probably of wrestlers like the natural disasters, the nasty boys, the bushwackers and a few others)? fire Warrior because of that was dumb. I doubt that Vince is saying the truth at 100%.

I think that the money/hijacking thing was why he got fired in '96. Hogan's commentary on that is amazing. What an egomaniac (referencing Hogan).

It's interesting, but I imagine the truth lies somewhere between this version and Warrior's. I don't think Vince is telling the truth. Warrior WAS going to do a program with Nailz, meanwhile the Undertaker was set to feud with Razor Ramon at the time. However, since Warrior wanted a new contract at the time, but wasn't holding them up as before, WWF was getting fed up with him. So when the British Bulldog got busted for crack and got fired, WWF found a good excuse to get rid of him too at the same time. Only after Warrior got fired in 92, WWF pinned a Nailz/Undertaker feud (Nailz/Taker was set to fight at the Royal Rumble 93 in a Shock Chair Match) but Nailz got fired soon for choking Vince out.

Aparently he took extended grieving time though.
I'm sure WWE would have given him time off but I believe that he just took off without saying a word and left thousands of fans in arenas disapointed.
At least thats what I hear but the DVD DOESN'T COME OUT UNTIL NEXT WEEK HERE!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I thought Warrior no showed due to his father dying? Yeah but Vince said that "he hadn't even talked to his farther for 10 years and could care less about him". So warrior just used that as an excuse.

One of my former co-workers rejoined the military a few years ago. A few months later, he got drunk and fell off the back of a Hummer and died. I couldn't stand the guy, but it really shook me up. Vince is entitled to think that Warrior was using it as an escuse, but I can understand how someone can be broken up by someone they know but don't like dying. Then again, I don't know Jim Hellwig personally, and after some of the things he said in his rant, I'm glad.

Hmm... You never really know the truth with WWE. They have a nasty tendancy to rewrite history. The WCW episode of WWE Confidential is a good example. The version you just gave does make sense in that both the Bulldog and the Warrior disappeared after the same Saturday Night's Main Event broadcast. That was the night that Shawn Michaels won the IC belt off of Bulldog, bringing an abrupt end to the Bulldog's short title reign. And it was later that same night that Heenan broke the news that Warrior and Savage wouldn't go into Survivor Series as a team against Flair and Ramon. Oh absolutely. Not getting along with someone doesn't mean that you don't care. The Warrior may be a lunatic and mentally warped, but he's not a villain. Relationships are more complex than that. It's as though McMahon thinks that the face/heel dichotomy exists in real life.
