I think 'Quake raises a good point when it comes to the X division. Whenever I've watched it (weekly on TWC) I've always felt there wasn't a strong enough face/heel divide. While I don't get to see Impact for another 5 weeks from what I've heard the aj/Daniels segment underlines that. Going into Bound For Glory Daniels has no real heat. While everyone can see he's a great challenger and will push AJ yadda yadda yadda, I don't think anyone believes he'll win. Theres been no evidence for it. Like 'Quake said If he'd cheated throughout the contest (establishing heelish attributes) then beaten AJ again by cheating not only would he have established heat but he'd be a genuine threat to AJ's title. This to me is similar to the AJ/Joe match at No Surrender. AJ had Joe beat and it was only with interference from Daniels that Joe beat him. While this added to AJ's character to the casual fan Joe's monster aura was damaged as he couldn't beat a man far smaller than him without interference. To the casual fan the Joe illusion would've been damaged. When it comes to wrestling there is probably none better than TNA especially due to the sheer variety their shows can bring. But they don't give you reason enough to care. For instance, Raven's title win. AJ is face champ, coming of beating Jarrett the month before and the announcers have been treating it like WM14, Austin beating Michaels, a new era etc etc. The DAY of the event Raven is throw into the match AND wins the title. Where's the buildup? From a storytelling perspective what reason did Raven have to win? While I marked out due to Raven being my hero, the casual fan would've been presented by a man who no more than a couple of months earlier was being buried in the midcard in AWFUL matches with Dustin Rhodes and Erik Watts, as their champion. It makes no sense. I want to see TNA succeed. And while I know they're limited in terms of TV time they need to build their matches more. Otherwise people won't keep tuning in, because they won't have been given a reason to. Case in point, the Batista push. Say what you like about the man up until the final chapters his feud with HHH was booked PERFECTLY and led to a rise in ratings and house show attendance and established Batista as a genuine main eventer. TNA now has to do things like this in order to establish (or re-establish for the casual audience) their own superstars. And from what I've been reading (like i said I can't watched for another 5 damn weeks) so far their wrestling has been great, but their storytelling hasn't been great and that is what they need in order to get the casual audience to stay.
Rant over.

Quake is the f***ing man! That's all. and you yell at us for saying the smallest bad thing about the E Uhm, I didn't know it was possible to shout over the computer. I must be talented. And I didn't say a bad thing at all about TNA, I just praised Quake for speaking his mind. Now be gone.

I suppose the lack of story explanation in the small amount of TNA that I've seen. I've just been enjoying the highspots and high flying. Don't get me wrong, I love a good story driven epic, that makes you want to dish out hard earned cash to see the heel get his comeuppance. But I haven't gone out of my way to see TNA, like I do WWE products almost religiously.
Maybe TNA can be viewed as a wrestling quick fix between other shows... it's not like there's any other product on... though I'm sure that's not their intention in the slightest. I watch because they have some interesting and skilled talent... that seem to want to risk their bodies to a more extreme degree (than the WWE sometimes) to entertain us.
I also imagine the hour time frame is very restricting. Trying to mash story and matches into such a short time HAS to be a pain. Especially when you want to be viewed as something different than the big boys. I think im willing to give them time... Ive been recording the shows and watching them at my leisure.

P.S. I thought the funeral thing was stupid! Some people will say it was funny. Some will say it was disrespectful (I'm there), but the bottom line is again, that did NOTHING for the Dudleys. What? A tag team left them bloody in a ring?.................SO? I didn't get it. I thought the segment was pretty funny, but that's only because I know the subject matter they were making fun of. They made alot of lashes at WWE, witht he guestbook names reading Vince,Linda, etc.
Then they made the lawsuit reference, which only makes sense of you know about WWE's recent legal acts, which I'm guyessing a majority of the casual fans DON'T know about.
And why was Abyss/ Mitchell there? I mean, I know they are heels and everything, but do they really have any relation in the story?
Eh, I found it funny, but the average fan would have given the slightest of shrugs over it.
EDIT: I didn't get the basis of the segment in the first place. I'm sure you're burying their careers and everything, but they just came in like 2 weeks ago, what career are you burying, TNA-wise? It seemed alittle rush.

I suppose TNA has learned nothing from the WCW Invasion angle.

In general I enjoyed Impact this week, but I agree that explaining things is not their strong suit. Case in point, while I couldn't watch TNA at the time, but I thought Jarrett was bringing in WWE rejects, but now he holds a us vs. new guys grudge? Also, what does Zybisko have against Raven? He acts like a poor man's Vince hiding from Austin. I don't get it and don't like it. I also hate that they have Ortiz as a special referee. He's a legitimate bad ass, so these two pretend badasses are gonna behave because of him. It seems bush league. The only thing that will save the match for me is if Nash really does rip his arm off and shove it somewhere it shouldn't fit.

I agree it make the Dudleys look like crap and being that this was following there one and only match they have had in TNA. The Styles and Daniels thing was backward agree on that too. What is also messed up is AMW in just a random title. match. I read the match on the net but I don't recall on Impact it being said next week. The PPV is I think is the last weekend of Oct or second to last and yet for being there so call "Wrestlemania" like PPV of the year they have done a horrible job promoting that.

TNA tells a very generic story...I went off to college and havnt been able to follow ppvs or the former friday tv show for a while and now im totally lost...they dont do a good job of filling me in on what i missed...after watching spike for a couple weeks im still lost...
compare that to wwe...after missing a few months back in 2002 becasue where i lived didnt get usa...within 1 week of coming home for summer break i was caught up and understood just about every angle...in my opinion tna is just a bunch of wild risktakers that also have a generic legends divison(nash, jarrett, sabu) but they do have aj styles who is good and raven who is absolutely amazing...he might be the best all around wrestler/entertainer in the buisness right now..i think ill post a thgread asking what people think

It seems like everyone in TNA gets a pop from the crowd except for Jarrett, Hardy, and sometimes Abyss. That's not good.

I think quake had a real good idea about those promos. Most people expect a greater degree of storyline than what TNA currently gives. It doesnt have to be overly complicated just a reason.

I guess I'm old fashioned old school, but I have to agree with Mick, and Terry about motivations. A sucessful heel needs a reason to justify their actions no matter how twisted the reasoning might be. likewise a good face needs to have some reason to do their thing. The angles should be thought out more, or promos given that explains the reasons for why they are doing something. Just some information would be better than nothing.
