Hey, Quake, glad to see you're doing alright. As this is the first time I've said anything to you, I just wanted to tell you that you made me cry when you killed Damien. (I think I was 4 at the time).

Welcome Back 'Quake. This is my first time posting here. I would like to say that I have always liked watching your matches. You were my favorite wrestler in the WWF. I always cheered for the heels. I have been a wrestling fan since 1979 when I used to watch Dick the Bruiser. Just wanted to say get well and don't give up.

When a suicidal person is on a ledge, onlookers at night who are in crowds are far more likely to yell "jump" than onlookers in the daylight.
Part of the reason is deindividuation. Deindividuation is when a person loses his or her sense of self in a crowd, especially during events like riots.
The other reason is the fact is that the cover of the night provides anonymity. Not only do people escape the judgment of others, but they can avoid the shame of having to look other people in the eye.
I believe that the anonymity of the internet functions in much the same way. When we never have to see the faces of the victims we hurt, then things are often said that we wouldn't dare dream of doing under "normal" circumstances.
Anonymity is a powerful thing... more powerful than people stop to realize. Honestly, which makes you sadder? The death of thousands of tsunami victims, or the single death of a loved one you saw semi-regularly? Chances are that emotionally many would say the latter, while cognitively knowing that the former is the far greater tragedy.
Couple the anonymous nature of the internet with the fact that that writing is arguably an inferior method of communication (those of you who have written something sarcastic, only to have it taken seriously, will know exactly what I mean) and of course problems are only inevitable. No amount of rules or moderating can prevent it.
I think the best thing is for people in the situation of becoming frustrated with the words of others might do very well to think about some of these things, and perhaps a new perspective will emerge.

Quake, just because yours is the least visited forum, does not mean that it is the least loved. I am sure that most who post in this forum think it is something different, something special. You are the only star in a business that many of us love for some reason that interacts with many who post here. That is not an attempt to worship, it is just stating for your benefit why this forum is special. If not everyone visits here, that is fine. By the way, everyone is entitled to develop an attitude to defend themselves when necessary. I assume most aren't bothered by it in the least. Welcome back!
