I'm of the opinion that there would have been plans in place to put them with Edge a long while before this supposed story took place. I think this is almost as bad as the 'HHH changes the Hardy result' by saying that all of a sudden it emerged that they weren't real brothers, and so creative thought 'I know, lets throw them in a storyline with the biggest star on that roster'. Remember that title shot they got against MVP/Matt about 6 weeks ago? When they were still The Majors? It looked pointless from the outside, but I bet it was purely an excercise to make the Majors seem more important and thus make the eventual turn they would have look like more of a shock/make people care. The story just looks ridiculous to me. their title shot consisted of MVP taking both of them out though...

I actually thought they were brothers.

I don't see why fans wouldn't buy it. Wrestling has had fake siblings countless times. Isn't there like 1,034, 560 Von Erichs and 1,450, 340 Singhs out there by now?

I know Jesse and Festus were meant to be The Daltons, but I don't think they were going to be billed as brothers. They're not billed as related now. Yeah, I think they were cousins or something in that first promo they did, but then they dropped the Dalton name and tweak the gimmick. When they started running their vignettes a few weeks later it was just Jesse introducing us to his partner Festus, no mention of being related, or last names giving. And the Godwins are cousins too.

What's going to happen when a fan finds out they aren't really brothers?
"That damn WWE lied to me. I'm never watching again!!!"
This story seems made up. Vince can't be this idiotic.

I don't understand the logic in this at all. Yeah fans can look it up and see they are not actually brothers but fans can look it up and see that half the roster is not using their real names or even hometowns too.

They got a decent length match for a team that was against the two guys who had the best angle going in the company. It wouldn't have made sense for the team that had just jobbed to newcomer Drew in previous weeks to suddenly be Matt/MVP's equals. It done the job, it got their name out there, and made fans more aware of them. I still think this pairing with Edge was always going to happen and wasn't suddenly thrusted upon them just because Vince was upset that they weren't brothers. What a ridiculous story.

What does that say to the staff when the boss doesn't even know your real names to figure out you are not brothers? It says to me that this "news" isn't even remotely true. It doesn't make a lick of sense.

I don't understand the logic in this at all. Yeah fans can look it up and see they are not actually brothers but fans can look it up and see that half the roster is not using their real names or even hometowns too. Using a stage name is fine. A lot of "legit" entertainers do that. Altering a hometown may work for a gimmick or for other reasons (no Canadian faces in WWE...) Pretending two perfect strangers/two friends to be brothers, in 2008 with all the Internet smarkdom running wild, requires too much kayfabe to work, and makes the thing look more silly. Blame it on the "it's real but it's fake. No wait, it's fake but it's real" approach WWE have been taking for some years.

I don't buy this story, considering Vince expects the fans to believe that a walking corpse wrestles, some guy dresses up as the boogeyman and randomly hides in peoples closets for hours to pop out at the most opportune moment, or that Vickie Guerrero would date that ugly ass Edge, among other absurdities.
They probably just weren't ever going to go anywhere with the generic Major Brothers gimmick, so they came up wit something else for them.

Not one of my major concerns really. How this became news is beyond my understanding.
