It makes sense, the rumors all last year was that they'd be going HD in 08.
Glad that crappy Comcast has USA HD, looking forward to Monday.

Looks like it was pushed back... www.wrestlezone.com/article.php?articleid=201319991We reported earlier that DirecTV advertised Monday's Raw as being in High Definition. It turns out the launch has been put back to the Raw following the Royal Rumble. The Royal Rumble PPV will be WWE's first HD broadcast.

Trust me, once you go HD you will NEVER want to go back to standard def unless you absolutely have to. Some people blow it out of proportion like its a damn epiphany, but really the clarity of the image, the sound quality, in some cases it's almost night and day ESPECIALLY when watching sports. I will never watch another football or hockey game in anything but HD. I don't know how it will affect wrestling, as I've never seen it in HD, but if it has the same sort of impact it has had on normal sports, its going to be amazing.

Sometimies when I channel surf, I don't go outside the 30 HD channels we have. I'm curious how it will look if I record the HD channel of Rumble. My HDMI cable doesn't go through by DVD recorder.

Well, I've recorded HD through a DVD recorder before, and the picture, although it isn't HD anymore, is still good. Hopefully WWE start releasing HD-DVD or Blu-Ray discs soon.

I mark for BD only PPV's being realised because right now, HD is in a losing battle against BD and The Marine and The Condemed are also only available on BD.

Either the HD feed around my area is really crapmongous or I need some new glasses and a hearing aid as I can not see/hear one smurfing bit of difference between normal def. and HD television. And yes, I have all the necessary equipment and have been to other friend's houses and watched their HD channels on their HDTVs and then switched to the standard def. channel and didn't notice one bit of smurfing difference. And what's with the deal about everyone shunning standard definiton? It's still a good enough picture and everyone's talking like it's colour vs black-and-white. And I can still watch black-and-white TVs. Although watching the snooker is quite tricky.
BLARGH! [/rant]
So, is it just me? Is it? Or is there someone else who can't see a shred of differentiality?

In some things it's easier to tell. In a lot you have to really look for differences. I never thought it was so great that I never wanted to watch standard analog. I can tell on some shows when they're side by side (Sports mostly). Otherwise, I don't think the differences I do see are really worth the large extra cost for the hi def tv.

Before you guys start celebrating this development, I just want you to think about something. Snitsky...in hi-def. You're only making me want to waste 500 bucks on a Hi-Def. TV more. I can barely get the HD Receiver I need for $500, where did you find a 500 HDTV??

It depends on the size you want, sometimes you'll get a good deal, but most 26" (which IMO is small) can be had for about that price if not a little bit more, and you can even get lucky and find deals on 32". When you hit the 40" area you're looking at $700-$800 minimum most likely, but $500 for a 26" or 32" in some cases is not rare. And receiver wise, its unnecessary. My cable company provides the receiver and I can output to my surround setup fine from the tv and get 5.1.
