Alright, Smackdown is currently airing right now in Australia (actually it's a replay from roughly 9 hours ago) and I feel it would be good if I give you some 'on the action' updates...
Teddy wheels Vickie Guerrero out to the ramp and she announces the Beat the Clock Challenge (BTCC) to determine who will face Edge at the Rumble for the World title. The contenders will be Finlay, Rey Mysterio, Batista and The Undertaker.
She then announces the new announcer of Smackdown... Coach.
They recap the Regal/Hornswaggle/Vince confrontation on Raw.
Finlay and Hornswaggle make their way down to the ring for Finlay's BTCC match against... MVP.

Back in the ring at 5 minutes (long ads) with Finlay having MVP in a leg lock. Which leads to pinning combinations by both men. MVP goes for many pinning combinations before locking in a headlock, which goes for over a minute and we're nearing the 8 minute mark. Finlay backs MVP to the corner and MVP needs to break the hold. MVP goes back to kicking Finlay's ass with a kick then mounted punches. Finlay fights back and puts MVP in an armbar... 9 minutes now. Finlay lets go and whips MVP into the corner and goes for a tackle but misses, and MVP hits the boot for a near fall. The referee is distracted by a rogue shileileigh (sp?) and Horny gives Finlay the shileileigh and Finlay hits MVP and pins him at 9:46.
Winner: Finlay, in a match that couldve been much better
Vince McMahon makes his way down to the ring and embraces Horny and they give eachother high fives. Vince throws Horny his hat then leaves...

Match 2: Mixed Tag Chuck Palumbo and Michelle McCool vs Kenny and Victoria
Funny comment by Coach saying Victoria wears the pants in the relationship
Fast opening with both men going blow for blow and the girls get tagged in quickly, Victoria starts kicking McCools ass for a while before McCool fights back with two moves and the guys are back in and Palumbo dominates Kenny with a kick ass powerslam. Cole has alot of trouble of saying "Palumbo is dominating Dykstra at this Junction". Kenny fights back for a bit until Palumbo hits a nice Top Rope Superplex. Girls are back in, McCool hits a nice cross body on Victoria with Palumbo's asist, McCol is distracted by Kenny, she kicks him but Victoria hits the Widows Peak for the win. Meh match, but good for what it was, Palumbo should stick to Tagging.
Afterwards Palumbo starts screaming at McCool sayigng that she screwed up the match and that he's sick of her and he hastily rides off without her.
Backstage, Teddy is giving Vicky coffee, but he does it wrong and she sends him off. Chavo (in Warrior pancho) walks in and complains about the Vicky/Edge relationship saying it's tearing the family apart. Chavo says he wants something he just can't have and walks off... probably going to lead to him in the Beat the Clock.

Quick reminder, the time to beat is Finlay's 9:46
Match 3: Beat the Clock Chavo Guerrero vs The Returning... Funaki!
They hype up that Funaki could win this and become number one contender.
Chavo man handles Funaki at the beginning constantly going for covers and looking at the clock, at around two minutes in Funaki fights back for a bit with basic Cruiserweight style moves before Chavo hits the Tilt-a-whirl back breaker and goes fro another cover, 2 count. More Chavo domination, but Funaki hits a surprise roll up which goes no where, more Chavo domination. Interesting moment, Chavo looks at the clock (with 5:30 somethign left), and Funaki uses this opening for a School Boy, but Chavo grabs the rope. Now Funaki starts taking control with lots of pinning combos, Funaki hits a flying cross body for a 2 count with 4:30 on the clock. After a blocked corner school boy attempt Chavo gets back in control and hits the Gory Bomb on Funaki for the win with 3:44 on the clock. So the time to beat is 6:02.
Winner: Chavo in 6:02, ok match, nothing special by any means, just a fun cruiserweight match with lots... and lots of near falls.
Batista is making his way out, his match is next...

Match 4: Beat the Clock Batista vs Curt Hawkins (One half of the Edgeheads)
Right away Cole says "This is Batista's quest to the World Title" or somethign like that... He also says that Edge stole the title from him at Armageddon (although Taker was moment away from winning cleanly... so wasn't it stolen from Taker?)
Vicke appears on the Tron and says that Teddy has an announcement. Batista will now verse Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder in a handicap match.
Batista starts hammering at both and shoudler Zack Ryder in the guyt and attempts a Batista Bomb on Zack, but Curt breaks it up, they then double team Batista with Batista clotheslining Zack, Curt dives at Batista but he catches him and then attempts a bomb on Curt but Zack breaks it up. They each attempt pin falls but Dave kicks out. They then stomp away at him and now they continue the double team. They continue the domination on Dave and they kick him to the outside with three minutes left on the clock. Batista starts fighting back bu ramming their heads in the barriers but they go back to the double team and Zack hit a flying leg drop to Dave who is caught on the ropes by Curt. Dave kicks out at 2 and we get more double teams and two counts, nice time killing by the Edgeheads... One minute left. They then hit a botched Double DDT, looked good still, they go for another but Batista back body drops them, he then spears one with 30 seconds left. He throws both in the corner and splashes them and hits a powerslam on one and spinbuster on the other with 10 seconds left. He goes to Batista Bomb either of them but they weasle out the the buzzer hits.
No one beat the clock...
Cole says Batista was robbed but Chavo's 6:02 is still the time to beat.

Coach isn't doing to bad, but it does feel like two play by plays instead of a PBP and Colour guy since Coach isn't really taking sides, just telling the story.

Raw Rebound: Flair vs Triple H
MVP is on the phone to someone saying he's better than Finlay and he only lost because he was cheated, and he wants everyone to respect his greatness. He says he's going to shatter the glass ceiling, make history and do what HHH couldn't do... retire Ric Flair.
Cole is interviewing Rey, Cole asks how Rey prepares for a match when he doesnt know who his opponent it, Rey says he can't prepare, but he'll need to be fast and furious, he's worn the World Title once and he'll do anything to do it again.
6:02 is the time to beat and Taker and Rey still have matches to compete in.

Match 5: Tag Team Deuce n Domino (/w Cherry) vs Moore Wang
Appropriately enough, Cole loves Moore Wang. They recap Moore Wang's latest success against Miz/Morrison and their 15 minute Iron Man match for the titles next Tuesday.
Yang and Deuce start off with both men going back and forth with hard hitting strikes, Deuce gets Yang in a front face lock and hangs him on the rope, he tags in Domino and he kicks and stomps away at Yang, hooks the leg but Yang kicks out, Domino locks in a sleeper... more rest holds. Yang powers out, hits a hurricanrana and tags in Moore. Who takes it to Domino and hits a cross body (three in one night), Domino eventually gets back in control. D and D try to double team Moore, but it backfires and Moore rolls up Domino for the win.
Winners: Moore Wang (or as Cole coined 'The Redneck and the Reject'), nice short match.
Up next... Undertaker tries to Beat the Clock.

Match 6: Beat the Clock The Undertaker vs Matt Striker...
Ok it's not Striker, but by word of GM Vicky, he is referee for the match against... Mark Henry. They go back to Henry and V laying Taker out 3 weeks ago by order of their manager, Matt Stiker. Coach says Striker will call this right down the middle (yay, heelishness for once).
Taker hammers away at Henry and starts bashing his head into the corner and Henry fights back and starts taking it to Taker. They go outside and Taker whips Henry into the steps. So far no heelish refereeing, thers 3 minutes left and Taker sets Henry up on he apron for the elbow/leg drop combo. Taker puts Henry in the corner and hits a series of headbuts before he hammers at the shoulder, leading to Old-School. Which Henry counters and he knocks Taker down for the 2 count with 2 minutes left (not even a fast count). Henry whips Taker to the ropes but Taker hits the running DDT, both are down. Taker goes for Old-School again but Taker catches him with a Bear Hug (haven't seen that counter before... looked good) Taker powers out and starts hammering at Henry but Henry fights back. Taker hits the Chokeslam with 15 seconds... Striker goes to make the count, he stops at 2... and he lets time run out.
No one beat he clock, and Striker high tails it. Taker then Body Slams Henry followed by a Leg Drop (Andre/Hogan).

Quick replay of Striker screwing Taker.
Diva Search contestant Lina Yatta (I think) is backstage with Striker, Striker says that Taker threatened to put his hands on him, and if he does that again he'll have to deal with Big Daddy V.
Royal Rumble Rundown: The Royal Rumble Match WWE Championship: Randy (c) vs Jeff JBL vs Jericho World Title: Edge (c) vs BTCC Winner.
Next up, Rey Mysterio

Now either Chavo, Rey or whoever Rey's opponent is will go on to face Edge for the title.
Match 7: Beat the Clock Rey Mysterio vs ... The World Heavyweight Champion Edge! (/w the Edgeheads)
So it's either Rey or Chavo... unless Edge gets the night off if he wins in less than 6:02... although him wrestling himself would be worth watching.
Wait... we get Edge vs Rey... tonight on SD... sweet!
Ok, Edge starts off jokingly running from Rey, to both mock him and kill time. He's killed a minute so far. He runs back in and Rey hits a hurricanrana and dropkick on Edge followed by a Headscissors into the corner and a seated senton for the 2 count. Edge big boots Rey. Edge throws Rey outside chest first. Rey rolls in and Edge picks Rey up and whips him hard into the corner. Batista runs in adn beats up the Edgeheads outside the ring. Rey kicks Edge into 619 position but Edge dodges it, Rey rolls Ege up for a 2 count, he then hits a cross body (4th for the night. Edge slams Rey onto the turnbuckle and stomps at him. Taker makes his way to the ramp and his gong hits and the lights go out for quite some time. The lights go back on, Taker is gone, Edge in knocked out in the 619 positon, Rey hits it, hits the Pickin Tha Dime and pins Edge with 1:29 left.
Winner and New Number One Contender: Rey Mysterio, I won't comment on the match because it wasn't really a match. Also don't be surprised to see Taker/Batista vs The Edgeheads in the near future.
Pretty fun show all round.

Edge v Rey at the Rumble... Not bad.
Hopefully neither Batista nor Taker will win the Royal Rumble... Been there, done that.

the whole beat the clock thing was terribly done this week, its always done in a way that you know which person is going to win each match but this time made it so blatantly obvious that it was annoying, like continually showing on the screen and mentioning that finlay, batista, taker, rey and chavo would be doing this challenge, and not mentioning their opponents, and then when rey was the only one left to compete, cole said a few times that it was either 'rey or chavo' who would go on to face the champion, not even considering that it could be reys opponent (wasnt announced as edge yet), but the commentating sucked as a whole coach and cole did nothing but agree with each other all night, isnt coach supposed to be a heel?
and that diva search contestant didnt seem like much of an interviewer but she was the hottest thing ive ever seen on wwe programming
and jobbing mvp, who will be in the world title hunt in no time, to a near 50 year-old sure was stupid
