Well another great figure in the wrestling buisness is gone and it's sad and I watched John Tenta wrestle for quite a number of years and I never got the oppurtunity to see him wrestle in Japan but I had the privilege to watch him wrestle for the WWF and WCW.
I never got to meet John in person and from reading posts from people that knew him he seemed like a class act and there are never enough people like John Tenta in this life. I had people say to me when I've said that a certain has died like "He was a wrestler".......yeah he was but a human being at the same time and husband, father, brother and it makes me sick when somebody makes a statement like that.
I use to enjoy watching John Tenta wrestle and I have a huge wrestling video library with alot of John Tenta matches that I still watch and still enjoy. John Tenta has left behind a great legacy in the sense that he was a great person and others should look at John Tenta and wish they could have done the same.
He will be missed that's for sure but certainly not forgotten.

Wrestling loses another great in John Tenta, as true nice guy in the business. I enjoyed his work as 1/2 of the Natural Disasters and the fact that he took time out to speak with wrestlecrap. You Will be missed Quake.

I posted earlier, but I've thought more about my friend, John Tenta. I remember what somebody told me after I lost my Mother back in 1999. He told me that DEATH is HARDEST for for those left behind. I found that TRUE, knowing that my Mom's pain was GONE and that SHE was NOW in a better place...doing what she loved to do and COULD do BEFORE her illness!
This is NOW TRUE for John! He can once again, do EVERYTHING he did before...PAIN-FREE and HAPPY!
The pain is NOW with his family, his friends (ME included) and his fans (ME included). WE are the ones suffering the loss of John. He is WITHOUT pain now!
And I believe that John wants us to HEAL and to go on with our lives! He's NOW smiling down upon us, KNOWING that, in time, we WILL heal and be able to deal without him there for us!
I LOVE YOU, BROTHER and I MISS YOU!

God bless you, John Tenta. I was nice to know that someone who we all looked up to took the time to talk to their fans, and was geniune and sincere about it. Thanks for the memories!

Well I must say I am saddened, and speechless at this news. For the few times John responded to my off topic ramblings it made them feel extra special. You will be missed, and my prayers to his family. R.I.P.

I just heard the sad, sad news. Mr. Tenta, I'll miss you. At least you're not in pain anymore. I remember watching you on TV when I was a kid. And then when I found the WC message boards, I IM'd you just to say 'hi' and let you know how cool I thought you were... and you actually messaged me back. I wasn't really expecting it, but you did, and I couldn't have been more delighted. Thank you, Quake, for everything. I will certainly say a prayer for your wife and children, who were so generous as to share you with us. You are loved, you are missed.

Very Sad to hear one of the best big men wrestlers ever, to have passed away. My condolenses to his family and friends. I was quite shocked to hear about it, but he did have a cancer, and that i've heard sources saying that he doesn't have long to live over the past 2 years.
I thought John was a great heel and i really liked his promo's back in the early 90s WWF. Sigh, i was brought up in that era of WWF, when i first discovered it, and another memorable, unforgettable character and wrestler has left us.

With Jake The Snake being my favourite singles wrestler, Earthquake was always my favourite tagteam wrestler. Although I didn't know him personally, I've been a great fan of his work for many years and will really miss him.
My condolences go out to his family and friends. Rest in peace, John Tenta.

I wanted to send something to Quake about a week ago, cuz ive never been in this forum and i wanted to wish him well. Sadly its too late.
I hated Quake, but in the best way possible. When he crushed Jake's snake, i hated him. When he killed Hogan, I hated him. But thats the mark of an incredible performer. He truely was a great, able to make the fans hate him and bring out some of the most memorable wrestling in my childhood. Years later, i smartened up and was able to see how nice of a guy Quake was, taking time out to talk to fans on this board. My heart goes out to his family, and i know he is in a better place.

I found out about this this morning, and damn if it didn't ruin my day.
Hopefully you'll all indulge me here for a bit. I have a somewhat unique perspective here, as in July 2004 I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. As of right now, I'm cancer-free, thankfully, but even a week ago, as it was posted that John wasn't doing well, I found it hard to believe. My thoughts, for better or worse, were along the lines of "I survived cancer, surely John Tenta can do it as well....right?"
I'll say this much: He handled the news of his relapse and the ensuing battle better than I ever would have.
Rest in Peace, big man.

I feel sorry for RD and everyone who had the privilege of knowing John better than I did. I really wish I had been able to talk to Quake in PM or something and I'm really sad that never materialized.
However, I am glad to have discovered this wonderful forum. Many of you who had the privilege of knowing John, should be proud that you cared enough about him to support him in his battle. He was not alone in his battle and he had a group of wonderful fans that cared enough about him to give him his own forum.
That alone, brings this hardened wrestling fan to tears.

I just wanted to add to the voices. I'm very sad for his family, I can only imagine how many great memories they must have of him. Me, I've got memories of being a little kid, infuriated and kind of scared of how he could squash all my favorite wrestlers one after another. Growing up and finding out wrestling was "fake" was a small price to pay for knowing what amazing people even the biggest onscreen "heels" could be in real life.
Rest well, 'Quake. Thanks for the memories and for taking time to talk with your fans.

I'm not one to quote songs too much, and especially any new music, but I heard Anna Nalick's song, "2am" yesterday and with the passing of John Tenta, I guess it just struck a chord. The rest of the song doesn't relate so much, but the refrain basically said how I was feeling at the time (and still do).
Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable, And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table. No one can find the rewind button boys, So cradle your head in your hands, And breathe, just breathe, Woah breathe, just breathe
It's been 24 hours since I got the news and it's not any easier. I usually hold off on the beer until the weekends, but tonight I'm raising a 16oz. Bud Light to John's memory.
Rest In Peace my friend.

Rest in peace, Mr. Tenta.
I wasn't near a TV yesterday... I found out when I got to work today. I told the guy I work with all about Tenta's history, his sumo training, all of it. He knew who Earthquake was, and remembers Golga, but that's it. I'll be digging out some old tapes to show him Quake in action.
It's starting to rain here... I just know that if it thunders, it'll be Earthquake shaking the rafters in heaven.
