Rest In Peace John.
Thank you for being part of "The Natural Disasters" and therefore guaranteed my 3 year old lil' butt would be in front of the telly every saturday. We all know you're in a better place because you were one of the sweetest, kind-hearted men out there.
Bless you

R.I.P. 'Quake.
Thanks for the great memories of watching you when I was a kid, watching WWF on Saturday mornings -- booing one of the best heels in the business. You will be missed. You are in a better place now, kicking back and trading stories with Curt Henning, Rick Rude, Gorilla Monsson and other great Superstars who left us early.

R.I.P. To John, who seemed to care more about the business than just about anybody else. He will be missed.

Thank you Quake, thank you for entertaining us over the years, thank you for taking your time to post on here over the years, and most importantly of all...
Thank you for taking out that bastard Hogan over the summer of 91.
RIP Mr Tenta, and thank you.

This is truly a sad day. When my mother got cancer and I said so on these boards, 'Quake was the first guy to send me well wishes and a message of hope. I will never forget his generosity or heart. This is very depressing news...RIP Quake.

One of my few regrets in life was getting into a pretty heated argument with John. Looking back on it, I can see how stupid it really was. I'm glad that we were able to mend fences before he passed on.
John, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing all of us to share some time with you. To say you would be missed here is one of the biggest understatements ever.
Rest in peace John....you deserve it.

The first word that came up in my mind when I read this, was the F word.
While I write this, it has been like 1 or 2 minutes that I know that Quake died. I just came on this forum and saw it in one of the topics. And I don't really know what to say. Besides the F word.
f***. I miss you John.

One of my first experiences of John was right here at Wrestlecrap. I came here to the forums and saw his comments and such and saw updates of his progress on the 'Crap as well as being one of the avid listeners of his Wrestlecrap Radio interview. I always thought he was going to make it, but he was a great man in his own right and shall be missed.
RIP

John was such a great guy, and it was an honor and a thrill to chat with him on a few occasions. He always seemed to be in a good mood and in good spirits, despite all the problems his body was causing him. One hell of of a tough guy. Sad, sad day. You'll be missed by us all, big guy.

I think today is a day that we all knew was coming but none of us wanted to believe it would ever actually happen. I remembering joining this board (back at the old board) and going "Wow, John Tenta posts here?"
Let's rewind back to a time when a 7 and a half year old kid watched a monster completely destroy his hero and send him to the hospital. I went so far as to make my own Hulk Hogan friendship bracelet to wear in honor of my fallen hero. I HATED Earthquake.
Then some years passed. I learned that wrestling wasn't real. And I'll admit, I never was a huge fan of Earthquake/Avalanche/Shark/John Tenta the wrestler. The spark just wasn't there for me. Fast foward back to me joining this message board. As Vince Russo said in his interview with Wrestlecrap Radio, and I'm paraphrasing, "The fans think that what they see on TV is the real person." John Tenta was the EXACT opposite of his on-screen persona. That loud, menacing monster that was Earthquake was in reality a soft spoken, funny, teddy bear. And that guy I liked a lot.
I just had a bit of a breakdown after typing that last line. I am typing this in real time, pausing to remember certain things when they come.
I'm not sure if I ever actually had a conversation with John, I have a hard time remembering everyone who responds to something I have said on here. But that was the thing. John Tenta was our celebrity but other than the fact that he had his own forum, he never once made you feel like he was any different than anyone on here. He was and will always be one of us.
Hell, he even took time to stand up for a member of this board who was banned and wanted him back just because he liked the guy so much. A small part of me is envious of his family because they got to see that part of him for so much longer than any of us who knew him on here. They should truly be blessed to have those memories.
As for me, I'll always have tapes of "Earthquake" that I can go back and watch. But moreso I will cherish the memories of John, the man.
