The one that sticks out in my mind was the royal rumble 1990 when it took 8 people to eliminate him i feel in love with the earthquake gimmick right after that match.

The first live wrestling event I ever attended was a TV taping sometime during 1990 in Wheeling WV. The first thing I saw that night was Earthquake and Typhoon cutting a promo against the Legion of Doom. I had never seen wrestlers up close and personal doing their thing up to that point, and they just seemed so much larger than life.

The time he and Typhoon clashed at Royal Rumble 1993 when they were tag partners, the immovable force met the irresistable object

A little moment that I remember was in the 1991 rumble where he saw Perfect (who at the time I hated more than quake) lying on the ground, so he just casually walked on top of him. It made me laugh.

Probably watching John wrestle IRS in my hometown. The match was supposed to be Money Inc. vs. the Disasters, but the night of the show was changed to Quake vs. IRS. I can't remember if Quake won or not, I assume he did, but great seeing him live.

Walking into a building with my dad at 8 years old and seeing Quake and Typhoon crammed in this little car, with their bodies literally covering the gear handle. It's not the most flattering memory ever, but it's always been a cherished memory of mine.

It's lame, but, I remember Earthquake's smile in the ring (usually when he was causing pain to some face), you could tell he was enjoying himself.

I mentioned this in the RIP thread, but his powerslam was unforgettable for me. I don't know what it was, but I always thought it was one of the greatest in the biz.

Squashing Damien.
For me, Mr. Tenta epitomized what a big heel was. Yeah, Bundy was big, but for a man his size, Mr. Tenta had incredible agility.
RIP and Godspeed, Mr. Tenta.

Right when I started watching wrestling, he was in the middle of his feud with Hogan, in an angle that even took precedence over Warrior's championship run. He was therefore part of my first memorable WWF angle, and even though I was a Hogan mark, he was responsible for these great memories.

My funniest memory of John was when we were talking on webcam on MSN...
He was telling about his new action figure, that wasn't out in stores yet (the classic figure). He was telling me about how upset he was with it, since he was NEVER that fat. LOL. He than proceeded to grab his action figure and show me on webcam. He started laughing and I asked him "what's funny?" He said, "watch this..." and than procedded to make dancing music with his mouth and had his action figure strip for me on webcam.
I've never laughed so hard. John, I miss you and I hope you are in a better place. God Bless, my friend.

Last year I was diagnosed with cancer and had to have an operation to have the lymph nodes on the right side of my neck removed. It was a bit of a shock, but I reasoned out my response by thinking of John. Sure I could give up, lock myself in my apartment and cry all day, waiting to die. Or I could do like John and say "Hell no. I ain't giving up without a fight. You want me, you best believe I'll be kicking and screaming till the end."
John gave me strength and inspiration to go on in a trying time. I'll always remember him for that. I was lucky. I'm cured. I beat it. But I couldn't have done so without John.
Thank, Quake. R.I.P. Your pain is over now.

I remember being a child, and telling my brother. "If we ever go to a WWF show, and Earthquake comes out, I'm gonna sit there and not boo, or even make a sound." I was so scared of Earthquake as a child, I thought if I booed him, he would reach over the rail and kill me. The only heel ever I was really afaid of, he did his job well. Who knew he was such a gental giant.

My favorite memory of Quake would be when he squashed Damien. I mean at the time I hated him for doing it, but as I got older and re watched that segment, I realized that John was doing his job, and doing it damn good. To make me cry and hate him that much when I was child meant that Quake was a great heel. And for that I applaude him.
As for my scariest Quake moment, and I wish I'd have got the chance to tell Quake this, although he may be reading up in heaven on his computer. But when I was 4 yrs old and I watched the 1992 Royal Rumble, after the match when they beat L.O.D but didnt get the titles and Quake and Typhoon came to the back screaming at Sean Mooney I ran out of the room in fear because I thought poor Mooney was going to get thrown through a wall. Thats just how angry Quake could become when he was in charcter so I could imagine in real life. But that one moment scared the crap out of me and I splet horrible for like a month after that fearing that if I did something wrong Quake was going to come yell at me.
R.I.P John Tenta
Even though you and I never talked, you did answer 2 of my questions, and for that I am grateful, I am also grateful that you took time from your life to come post on the site with us crazy Crappers. I'll never forget these last couple years where I have had the chance to actually speak to a man with such an impact on my childhood, and John your in my thoughts, God Bless.

I remember on another board he made a thread titled "Calling All Christians"..in which he wanted the people that shared his faith to tell him what they thought Heaven would be like. Instead of posting on the board I sent him a PM detailing the last moments of my brother..and the peace that came over him and the family as he moved on.
John thanked me..and related a simialer story about his own grandmother. It was obvious to anyone that looked that this was a brave, strong man who was trying to come to terms with his mortality, and I pray to God that in his final moments..he found the strength and grace that he was so obviously looking for.

My favorite memory of Quake was back in his hey day being the dominant heel. This around 1990. I remember his Mania match with Hercules. I remember him squashing Hogan on the Brother Love Show. I even have a tape of my vacation trip to California/Hawai where the television is on in the background showing Quake against Ronnie Garvin.

Pretty much everything he did while in WWF. Also the little things, here on this forum. He took the time to read what we have said and reply. It may not seem like much, but it means something to me.

Quake Burgers when he squashed Damien. Easily one of the best heel moments ever.
