That's a good thing, I'll have to check into that. Thanks for posting, I don't normally pay attention to Heat.

Nice to see it made it in there since it's really the only old school match of the selection.

An interesting thing about this match, it was one of the few times when HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN came back from an attack and did NOT totally destroy his opponent. His victory was only by count out which allowed the feud to continue (durring which HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN got his definitive victory) but more importantly, it established Tenta as a dangerous monster. In my opinion this match established Tenta even more than his initial attack on HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN because the attack was from behind and therefor could be seen as a cowardly act. But to face HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN in his comback match where he was supposed to get his revenge and come away with only a count out loss was quite impressive.

I believe Hogan botched a slam through a table during this match and Quake had a scratched up, bloodied back.

Quake was the one who came out of that feud looking far stronger than Hogan.
What I thought was funny is the commentary. After Hogan's cheap count-out victory, Vince was going mental as if Hogan had single-handedly saved the planet from evil. But Piper as the colour commentary pissed all over it, pointing out quite correctly that a count-out victory meant nothing and Quake was still as dangerous as ever.
If that wasn't bad enough, in the post-match interview, Hogan was declaring himself ready for a world title shot, despite the fact that he had basically relied on Tugboat and Big Boss Man to save him during the whole feud.
LOL

It's a good match. In terms of heat from the crowd.
Boss Man hit Quake with chairshots so hard you could actually see huge red welts appear on Quake's back.
The Jimmy Hart-Quake-Bravo squad was terrific.

I believe that match included Quake coming off the turnbuckle a couple of times. Ric Flair eat your heart out.

I remember seeing this match. Quake was an awesome heel! In fact, a week prior to this, the WWF always did a build up show. I think that year it was SummerSlam Fever on the USA Network. The main event was Jim Duggan vs. Quake. If I remember correctly, Duggan hit Earthquake with his 2x4 and put big welts on his back. Does anyone else remember that?

But Piper as the colour commentary pissed all over it, pointing out quite correctly that a count-out victory meant nothing and Quake was still as dangerous as ever. It just goes to show you that HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN doesn't have to job to someone to put them over. Besides he got his definitive wins over Earthquake later in the feud. With With Andre, Studd And Bundy all gone from the WWF and Vince Making a virtual joke out of the One Man Gang with that Akeem gimmick, the WWF was in need of a new dangerous monster. Earthquake was that monster. And feuding with HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN was the best was to get him over. The reason Earthquake only lost by count out was to A) confirm as Piper said that he was still as dangerous as ever and B) to leave the door open for a series of matches against HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN. HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN was still the top man. The Ultimate Warrior was on a fast burn out and many fans were actually hoping he would drop the belt to Rick Rude at SummerSlam. And don't forget that Tugboat turned on HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN and joined Earthquake (as Typhoon) to form the Natural Disasters. So all and all I think the whole thing was played out very well. It established Earthquake as a dangerous monster, it gave the fans satisfaction in seeing HOLLYWOOD HULK HOGAN victorious over the man who almost made him retire (yes it was by count out, but that was so not to hurt Tenta's momentum) and it lead to the formation of the Natural Disasters tag team which is probably what Tenta is best remembered for.
