Hall of Fame 2009: Who Should Be In?

I know it's a year early but it's never too early to speculate and hope. It looks like they usually induct 7 or 8 or so including an old timer. So, who should be induced next year? Here are my choices:

Stone Cold Steve Austin-It will be 6 years since his last match and only comes back now and then for special stuff. Needless to say, he paid his dues and did wonders for the company and was probably the catalyst for the fall of WCW. I guess the only thing is if he's ready for induction himself.

Bob Backlund-OK, word has it that the only thing keeping Backlund from being inducted is that he himself isn't ready because he believes he still has one more run in him. Well, Vince needs to have a long talk with him because Bob is waaaayyy past being a substantial competitor. Even though he and Flair were contemporaries, Backlund didn't and doesn't have the charisma Flair had and personally, I want Backlund to go in as I remembered him as a babyface champ in the late 70's/early 80's. His latter gimmick of the crazy heel just proves he could adjust.

The Road Warriors-No need to explain here. The Road Warriors need to be inducted, plain and simple. Now, I know there are many who want to see Demolition inducted but IMO not before the Road Warriors.

Owen Hart-Get. This. Done. By any means necessary. It's going to be 10 years since we lost Owen. Vince made nice with Bret so he needs to convince Bret to help convince Martha to allow this to happen and it's gotta be 2009.

Stan Stasiak or Ivan Koloff-Or both. With the exception of Bruno Sammartino, these 2 former WWWF champions are the only one's not in the HOF. Both had great wrestling careers and both were what heels were supposed to be in their time and both need to be inducted.

Howard Finkle-I believe 34 years of loyal service warrants induction. The Fink simply needs to be inducted. Period.

I have others but some just aren't going to happen unless a miracle comes along, most notably Bruno then there are those from the Attitude Era who should be inducted in the next few years like The Rock, Mick Foley, Ron Simmons(Farooq), to mention a few. So, who are some of yours and why?

The Funks and the Von Erichs should go in next year as well as Austin.

I can see Fink being a lock for next year. I really don't think we're ever going to see Owen in though.

The undercard should be Texas heavy.

Von Erich, Funks, Freebirds,Boesch all could go.

Since it is Texas, I can see The Funks, Austin, The Von Erichs.

Besides that I'd want Backlund, Savage, Finkle, Bruno and Dibiasi.

Just as this year's was filled with prominent Floridians in the history of professional wrestling, next year will be loaded with guys from World Class and other legendary Texan wrestlers.

The Funks, Freebirds and Von Erichs are all locks. Austin deserves it, but I think there should be a little longer of a wait before he gets inducted.

I thought Martha wanted nothing to do with Bret, or anything involving wrestling. That'd be like telling Vince to get Bruno to agree to go in. It's not likely.

To add another perpetual name to the possible list, Ted DiBiase.

I agree with everything said, especially The Fink. I know they phased him out for Lillian Garcia, but the man has a much better voice. He was the voice of the WWE for years, and should be honored as such. Whenever he comes back and announces for the HOF inductees, I admit, I mark out.

Among some already mentioned, Rick Martel. A great wrestler who gave about a decade of loyal service to the WWF (if you combine his early 80s run and his late 80s-early 90s run). Held the the AWA World Title too.

Jake Roberts, Dibiase, Terry Funk, Rick Rude and the Von Erichs along with The Fink continuing the recent tradition of inducting one announcer/commentator every year. But just reading that makes the list look too strong. There's no way they are inducting all these guys in the same year. But a man can dream right? I've honestly given hope on Owen being inducted anytime soon, his wife isn't going budge, not that I blame her.

While I'm thinking about it, Arn Anderson. Of the Horsemen not in the Hall yet, he's definitely most deserves to go in. Same for Tully Blanchard and Barry Windham, I'd say they're due for induction as well

You know who deserves it? Brian F'n Pillman. The man pioneered cruserweight wrestling in the early nineties and created a Loose Cannon character that was years ahead of its time. He is another amazing wrestler who was taken long before his time, and he definitely deserves it.


Plus, it will give them another excuse to use Austin for something.

Stan Hansen
Steve Austin will be the headliner I would guess.

Just because it's in Texas doesn't mean we have to have a solid roster of rednecks. But maybe I'm just biased because I hate Austin.

Foley, first of all. LOD definitely deserves it too. Also, I'd like a clause that states Michael Cole never gets in, ever, under any circumstances.

I was thinking about it, Austin is due. He last wrestled at WM 19 about 5 years ago....I believe in the NFL and NBA, once you're retired 4 years you're eligible. I know the WWE doesn't have any real rules like that (obviously...Flair was still a full time active wrestler as of last Saturday), but this is at least an argument against him being too young. It also shows that the chances are slim of him ever wrestling again and if he does he certainly wont wrestle a full time schedule. Austin should headline the hall next year.

The Funks should go in as well.

Defiantly Owen, but I think Martha Hart is holding them back from that one.
