1 star for the ECW battle royal?
BUSHWAH!! It's get as least 2 more stars on the strength of Jamie Noble's near elimination!

Why should we care about Dave Meltzer.
He's aa wannabe elitist internet writer.
He's only a critic and a repoprter.

meltzer seems to be respected within the industry from what ive read in wrestling bios and such.He always had wrestlers on his radio show as well like Mick Foley and Lance Storm. Hes the closest thing wrestling has to a journalist not sure why people get so angry about him.

In my eyes, this is how I'd put it;
HBK vs. Flair ****1/2 Cena vs. Orton vs. HHH ***3/4 Show vs. Mayweather *** Umaga vs. Batista *3/4 JBL vs. Finlay **3/4 Edge vs. Undertaker ****1/2 MITB ****
For the record, my match of the night was Edge vs. Undertaker. HBK vs. Flair was great, but if it weren't for just a few (and I'm not complaining) botches, it'd be rated higher than the main event.
Great Mania, I don't care what anyone says...
I still respect Meltzer for being one of only a few legit pro wrestling journalists and making a good money out of either praising or ripping a wrestler.

I'd say those were pretty accurate, I thought Taker/Edge was the match of the night myself. (And not becuase I'm biased )

Taker/Edge felt like a main event, but Edge's promo from earlier that night is what made it for me.
Edge wants revenge for Hogan losing at WM 6.
How's he going to get it?
By defeating the Undertaker, who is many a child's hero, thus ruining their WM because his was too.

***1/2 sounds a little generous for Flair/HBK.

I thought Taker/Edge was eons better than Flair/Michaels. Best match of the night easily.
Michaels/Flair for all the intangibles fine. If this was a "loser retires" match between the two 10 years ago sure. But Flair has been a mid carder for 5 years now. And as great as he once was, he sure as hell hasn't been recently. This match didn't do it for me. I found it very sloppy and lazy.
If you want to talk psychology I think the match was all over the place as well. never really drew me in, ot bad by any stretch but its getting a lot more props than I'd give it personally.

I respect Meltzer's opinions, but the one rating system I seriously utilize is my own- the "do I want to see this match more than once?" judgement.

By defeating the Undertaker, who is many a child's hero, thus ruining their WM because his was too. That promo seemed like such a petty dipshit heel promo, yet was absolutely GREAT because of that. Edge is the benchmark for heels in current WWE. MITB this year was utterly insane. The only thing that let it down was Shelton's springboard botch, which was less his fault and mroe the fact that the ladder wobbled as he jumped. Much like last year's MITB, there were some spots where I seriously thought "Crap, these guys are gonna kill themselves if they arent' careful". Shelton's bump off one ladder through another was a prime example, as was Morrison's laddersault. Taker/Edge was betetr than HBk/Flair wrestling-wise, but I stand by my comment on HBK/Flair being *****. The only botch was Flair not catching HBK properly on the 2nd moonsault, and even that was covered in kayfabe as Flair trying to sidestep it.

I remember as my friends and I watched HBK moonsault and just cringing when the table didn't completely break.
It was also funny yet cringeworthy to watch HBK say "Ah, s***. Ah, s***."
Did he really get hurt that night or what?

I was going to do a "which rating do you disagree with?" thread like I did last year, but I think we know what wins in a runaway. Here's how I would put it
HBK vs. Flair ****3/4 Cena vs. Orton vs. HHH ***1/4 Show vs. Mayweather **3/4 Umaga vs. Batista 1/2* JBL vs. Finlay ** Edge vs. Undertaker ****1/4 MITB ****1/4
I mean, some really incredible matches on that card, and I don't think anyone is ever going to forget Flair/Michaels. I mean, doesn't Meltzer supposedly grade on the "feel of the moment" factor as well? I think he's just bored with wrestling. -.-

Watching the PPV the only match (apart from Bunnymania) that I didn't enjoy was Batista vs. Umaga. The rest wa fine for what it was, even though I did find the first 10 minutes or so of Taker vs. Edge extremely boring, but it was great once it got going.

How come people who claim note to care about star ratings have such a bad reaction to them? If you don't care, then don't care.

By defeating the Undertaker, who is many a child's hero, thus ruining their WM because his was too. Once of many reasons that makes Edge the best on the mic today. His promo's alone gets you ready to watch his match. A great match can be told by storytelling in the ring, But few get that going in a promo.
