So...
Scott Steiner has lost his opponent and is issuing an open challenge to anyone in the back.
Tenay and West are doing what they always do: Talking during the promo, repeating what we just heard.
Suddenly, Tenay starts to say something, and Steiner gets back on the mic stating that he is "Throwin dow tha gantlant" causing Tenay to say a very ironic statement:
"Gee. Steiner won't let us get a word in edge-wise!"
Yeah. How dare Scott Steiner interrupt Mike Tenay when he is talking. It's not like Steiner is the one everyone wants to listen...to..or..Heh?
I just found it amusing. No real other reason to post other than to allow another thread to complain about Tenay & West.

Y'know despite myself, and maybe because I was so let down by everything else on Impact tonight, but when Steiner gave Petey a pat on the back I was kinda like - "Cool. They're friends again."

I just found it amusing. No real other reason to post other than to allow another thread to complain about Tenay & West. At some point, Mysterydriver, you're going to have to realize that complaining about Westenay's work in the booth is like complaining about the sloppy driving at a demolition derby or the loose action in a penny-ante poker game. Sure, it drives you nuts if you're a purist, but it's just something that, unfortunately, comes with the territory. Now, if it's any consolation, getting a Nascar guy in the booth succeeded wonderfully - if TNA's goal was to get me to think "See, Westenay isn't all that bad". Random thought: Mike Tenay + Don West < Mike Tenay + Adam West. Discuss. |

None of this is as strikingly hilarious as the fact of Steiner's girl being named Raka Khan. Think about that. Someone in TNA (probably with the initials VR) thought it would be a great idea to make a vague reference to Chaka Khan, a Funk musician who hit her peak popularity in the 1970's. THIRTY-FIVE YEARS AGO.
And I'll bet he thinks everyone gets the joke, too. The fact that they almost certainly don't is comedy.

Are you f***in' kidding me? This company airs a TAPED SHOW and they didn't re-do a promo that was horribly gobbled with words that don't even belong in a sentence describing a division of the promotion?

And "I Feel For You", arguably the height of her popularity came out in 84. VH1 and rappers make references to Chaka Khan all the time, so I don't think it's really out of the realm to expect some people to get it. And it's not like knowing who Chaka Khan is is integral to the angle. |
