Considering how VinnieMac always loved the superheavyweights. How Mike Awesome's run in the WWE didn't last more than a few months? He could move like a cruiserweight and had the power of a superheavyweight! His ECW matches were amazingly enteratining and he could actually wrestle compared to most of the hosses that have been in the WWE!! Interested to hear your opinion and anyone elses.

I never fully understood why he was around for such a short amount of time in the WWE. It could have been due to the fact that the god awful "That 70's Dude" gimmick killed his momentum. When you compare him to some of the hosses in WWE today (Heidenreich, Tomko etc) Awesome is so much better than they are.

Him being related to Hogan, whom Vince still hated at the time, might have had something to do with it. I think it also was partially because Awesome got several injuries and so Vince never really got to see him in the ring with any major players in WWE at that time. But I do wish Awesome had been kept, I think an Awesome/Kane fued would have been...well, awesome.

You also have to realize that Vince did not "Create" Awesome and you all know how Vince pushses people he doesnt create. According to Awesome he hated being there I dont know the whole story but that is what he says.

I've heard that when he came in, Heyman still had a little pull left with the WWE and convinced them to bury Awesome due to what he did as ECW champion..
He was a hell of a wrestler..Loved his FMW stuff..But it pissed me off when he kicked ECW in the webbo's like that and showed up in Turner-land.

They almost had to bury him because having Edge and Christian call him Mike "so totally not" Awesome was irrestible.
OKay, they made a mistake. A big one. I didn't see the logic either. As for his leaving ECW... I can see Heyman being upset, but... the guy deserved to move up and he took his shot. I'll bet he never figured he'd wind up as "that 70s guy."
Hell, it's almost a weird lesson. As much as "creative control" clauses are sbused in this industry, Mike Awesome's WCW run is a great case study in why a guy should have one.

I'm pretty sure some guys in the company (Taker, maybe?) said he couldn't work. You know, couldn't work WWF STYLE. They did the same thing when Jericho came into the company, and we all know from his WCW days that Jericho couldn't work, right? Whatever.
