I still remember the opening line he gave at the speech at my college in 2004 (Northwestern State in Louisiana).
He said: "Only in America can a guy go from running around like a maniac in tights with his face painted to speaking about politics while wearing a suit and tie at a university"
Then he went off on welfare and immigration. (made some really good points about the subjects)
Mentioned that he felt funny wearing face paint at his age, but enjoys seeing the smiles on kids faces whenever he has a (rare) performance as the Warrior.
Said he didn't see himself working full time again as a wrestler, but wouldn't mind another big match or two.
Would like to run for office one day if the oppurtunity should ever arise.

I can understand if you disagree with the man's politics or regard him as a complete and total nut bag for legally changing his name to "Warrior", but lets look at the alternatives: *Jim Hellwig has never been caught beating his wife/girlfriend/significant other (a la "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Dynamite Kid, or Lex Luger) *Jim Hellwig has never been suspected of murder (let alone his immediate family a la Chris Benoit). *Jim Hellwig has never been known for being a raging alcoholic (a la Scott Hall/Razor Ramon). *Jim Hellwig has never been suspected of being addicted to drugs (a la Jake Roberts). *His family isn't regarded as a complete and tragic train wreck outside of the wrestling ring (a la the Von Erichs). *Jim Hellwig hasn't written a book, discussing him cheating on his wife (a la Bret Hart). *None of Warrior's kids are publicly known for their juvenile delinquency (a la Hulk Hogan's son). *Warrior has never been accused of rape (a la Jerry Lawler back in 1993). *Warrior didn't have to marry the promoter's daughter in order to continue being a top star/champion (a la Triple H or Larry Zbyszko back in the AWA under Verne Gagne). *Warrior didn't help run a promotion into the ground with horrible, self-serving booking (a la Dusty Rhodes in Jim Crockett Promotions or Kevin Nash and later, Vince Russo in WCW). *Warrior never tried to "intentionally" kill one of his opponents during a match (a la New Jack w/ Vic Grimes). Well said. About Warrior holding up Vince for money, there are always two sides to a story. I've heard (supposedly in a Warrior shoot interview) that Vince hadn't give Warrior his pay-off from WMVII and Warrior was so angry with him that he refused to wrestle at Summerslam until Vince gave him the money. If Vince did stiff him on his WM payday, then I don't blame the Warrior for "holding him up."

The one thing I don't understand about that story is whether Warrior had a written contract or not. I heard that Vince used to do this whole handshake thing, but I'm not sure if it applied to Warrior or not.

In his shoot, when talking about the third time he was back he went through Linda with everything. Vince wasn't involved much.

Heenan ripped "the Warrior" to shreds, I didn't know that he hated him that much. Well he did do a pretty shocking Gorilla Press Drop on him, so I'd be mad too.

Heenan ripped "the Warrior" to shreds, I didn't know that he hated him that much. Warrior reffered to him as a two faced bastard. Said if he didn't like the matches they were doing he should have said something. I don't know. I haven't heard much about Heenan being up to no good but I woudn't doubt it.

I have also met the Warrior in person. The person we judge him by is the fantasy character from wrestling TV and his online blogger character. The real man is someone sensible and gracious, that I could sit down and have a nice long chat with.

I've seen some videos of Warrior meeting fans. He seems like a cool guy and very appreciative of his fans.

He didn't jump off of steel cages or work in wrestling until his body broke down, so people who do that aren't going to appreciate him. In my mind, that makes him smarter than most of the people criticizing him. It's a business, but some people give their lives to it. In most businesses, that's considered unbalanced.

i love hulk, but the whole no-no thing is wrong, for hulk-andre 2,wwf ade it clear that it was th elong awaited rematch.. As far as Warrior's ring work, from 1989-onwards, you'd be hard pressed to find a bad 1-on-1 match he had on PPV. From his series with Rude, to Hogan, to Slaughter, and Savage, he was regularly putting on good to great matches. Now the definition of good may differ from person to person, but his matches with Rude, Hogan, and Savage in particular have generally been praised by the internet crowd, and rightfully so. I agree with what you typed, although alot of bias smarks will say Warrior was being carried in those matches. It takes two to tango. Its not like his opponent was doing all the work and he was no-selling THE ENTIRE TIME(I put in all capital letters because I'm away his matches had no-selling spots).

Did I read someone labeling those of us who loathe Triple H as petty? Was not the commentary quite petty? I, like some, didn't think they buried him as much as advertised. But the intent is obviously there. Seriously, they might as well have called the DVD: "Warrior is a big, stupid poopy pants"
