That bad, huh? That's a shame. It looked good in the videos I saw. Well, it couldn't be worse than Nitro or In Your House.

You know what, I don't even try and defend it. When people say that it's fake, I usually ask them what happened to the White House after the aliens blew it up (Independance Day) or ask if they're afraid a cyborg will try to kill them (Terminator). It's smurfin' entertainment, and I like it. Deal with it

Being from the UK its a bit harder to defend liking it! people always mention older british wreslters like Big Daddy or Giant Heystacks (lock ness is WCW) but then always ask about the british bulldog or the ultimate warrior!!! so those people i never answer back anyway, anyone looking for info about the warrior needs to be avioded at all cost! but as for being embarressed! try wearing a BRIGHT SMURFING PINK bret hart t-shirt to school as a 12 year old boy and see if you don't get called "fag, gay, queer, insert amusing gay name in here" all day!!!

Deal with it Yeah, but people usually don't discuss about how invincible the Terminator looked, or how the aliens should have taken over, or how the sidecick should have been given more screentime... Nor the movies are presented as "real". Reality show we may have a point about, but movies=/=wrestling. As I said in other similar topics, as long as wrestling is presented/referred to as legit competition while on-air, it'll always be impossible to defend. Basically it's like defending a fixed football game...

It's a modern day freakshow, it's mostly dumb and it's entertaining. I'll take it over some shitty action movie any day.

The only time i have ever watched wrestling with people who weren't wrestling fans this happenned. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd-8fzkmHCISince then i've made sure i watch wrestling either by myself or with another fan. I guess it is fair to mention Robocop. Surprised Noone mentionned Arquette winning a world title. Try explaining that to anyone.

Basically it's like defending a fixed football game... Not necessarily. It's not like it's presented any different from movies. When Indiana Jones is in danger, a message doesn't come up on the screen and say, "Don't worry everyone, he's fine." They don't end every movie advertisement with "But seriously, it's just a movie." You can't acknowledge on screen that your product isn't really happening. It breaks the magic. And on the subject of the topic, I invited friends over who didn't watch wrestling to watch the first episode of ECW on Sci-Fi. I was sure they'd be impressed...

I'm afraid I've got to side with the "I don't defend it" camp.
Even in its purest, most technical form, there's just too much about wrestling that's inherently odd (Why don't they grab the ropes to prevent irish whips more often? Why do they keep their legs up in the air during a delayed vertical suplex? Stop standing around on the outside together, you're all going to get moonsaulted like last time!)

Don't defend it.
Who cares?
If people bash wrestling when you mention it they're just trying to get a rise out of you.

anytime someone gives you grief about being a wrestling fan, show them that 'Heh!' video of scott steiner and they will laugh. It has worked without fail on several occassions for me. Then you say, "you laughed, you just found wrestling entertaining, thats why i watch it." I showed my brother that and the music video. He only laughed at the "OWWW!" and the botched jump off the apron, but then again, he's difficult to impress. Then again, he's a Carlos Mencia fan, so go figure. The hell does being a Mencia fan have to do with anything?

I don't know. My non-wrestling friend watched TNA and some WWE and he said he liked TNA a whole lot better. I find this to be an embarrassing moment. My mom was watching with me that time.
