Ok, I haven't partied much since high school, but it happened at EVERY party...I'm sure it happens at all yours to. The chick who ends up crying. Always some big melodrama there. Constantly at the fraternity parties. In fact, anymore, when I go over (usually because I'm either tending bar or doing a meal for them), I can spot it and have it figured out down to within five minutes of when the waterworks are getting turned on. And there, it's not just one girl, oh hell no, it's a gaggle of sorority girls, it seems. I'm not ragging on sororities or anything, but man, those girls get about four drinks into the night (so, around 11:30 if we started serving the beer or premixed cocktails (so they're weaker than they would be at a bar) at 10:00), and they turn into something strange. It's one of the two extremes I saw in sorority girls at parties who had a few too many (or just a few)...either sobbing, crying, and making drama out of nothing, or becoming completely scandalous and engaging in behavior that is hardly becoming of such *ahem* pristine young ladies (and likely in trouble with their house's standards committee).

Girls who unload all their ex-boyfriend or other drama on you. I want to listen and console so I can get laid, but I also want to yell "shut the snork up" at the top of my lungs. This one is mostly from Family Get Together's: Having to talk about your life situation to a bunch of different people. It's really bad when things are not working out at the moment. You just want to forget about it and have a good time. But no every time someone asks 'What have you been up to?' it just reminds me of my excretory matterty life. ^ Both of these.

So, um...what DO you guys like at parties? Erudite conversation about the politics of the day while the string quartet plays an understated bit of Chopin? Actually, I tend to enjoy things like this.

Drunk people, period. The instant they get smashed the party goes downhill. Let's see, how many types of drunk people are there that wrecked parties I've been at? 1. The before mentioned guy who picks a fight with everyone and loses. 2. The girl mentioned who unloads a bunch of baggage about her ex. 3. The guy who has to go around and tell everybody how drunk he is every ten minutes. 4. The guy who screams "WHOOOOOOO!!!!" for no reason at all. 5. The girl who can't hold her liquor and ends up blowing chunks all over the place while her friends hold her hair back and keep her from falling over.6. The guy who pisses himself. 7. The girl who gets plastered and paws at you all night (personally speaking, drunk girls are a major turn off) This is why I'm a shut in now. Sounds like a good time to be Chunks at said party. I agree with all the points also, had a college party years back and some random turns up, and goes into the room with all the coats on a proceeds to p*ss all over them. Not impressed.

When two or three drunk guys manage to get their hands on some guitars and proceed to belt out a rendition of Wild World so bad it could be used as torture for POWs.

unfortunatly im usually that guy who gets really drunk and annoys people, i get very touchy feely when drunk and im always trying to hug people, some people get freaked out when a drunk gay guy comes up and hugs them. also my language and sense of humor gets quite vulgar which is too much for some people

i actually like most of the people mentioned here. that being said, people who tell you how drunk they are just frustrate me. the moment i hear the phrase "how wasted am i?" i just stop listening to them. how wasted are you? how much do i care?

Another one: the pseudo-musician types that want to stand around and talk nothing but rock history and their musical influences. Drives me crazy. It never fails, someone mentions that I play guitar, was a music major for a year or two, and have traditionally been the resident music go to guy in my circles, and a guy or two will endlessly want to talk my ear off about their "equipment" (which is usually some wicked guitar like a Fender Starcaster and a Silvertone amp) and how they're influenced by whomever. When I tell them that I'm playing a neck-thru Hamer Standard from 1981 which is a collector's item, I get a blank stare. They then ask me who my favorite band is, and inevitably, I have them go first, to hear that they really dig (insert whine-rock band here), and have never HEARD of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Van Halen, most of Clapton's catalog (he's not just the Tears In Heaven guy), etc. They're also scared shitless of the fact that I know music theory reasonably well (music majors kinda need that), and that my influences go well beyond rock.
I came to party, not to educate you on Music 101.
Now, if someone who has played for a few years and is serious about their music wants to chat for a few, I'm all about that, but the kiddies who got a guitar last Christmas and still haven't squeaked out their first three chord strum-sing song or only chug away on root/5th powerchords (which are actually diads, since there's only two notes being played, and you need three to construct a chord) are people who tend to make me drink my whiskey faster than necessary.

It sounds like you guys just don't like to party.
I've seen people complain about some of the best parts of parties...
I enjoy any kind of music, so no complaints here.
I don't mind drunk people, because it's quite funny on some occasions, as long as they don't get out of hand too much.
I think the point of going to a party is to not have to give a shit about whatever's going on, and just to have a good time.
I get the visual of a bunch of you guys being the guy who sits at a table the entire night trying to spark up conversation with the girl who you'll never get with, and hate all of the other people there.
The only thing I do agree with here is the uninvited guest who ends up being a douchebag, but even then, I'd only worry to a high extent if it was a party of my own.

I have no problem with 90% of the "people" listed here as they just lend to the atmosphere of the party. I personally prefer going to bars or clubs for this reason.
Anywho, the one that annoys me the most is the female that as soon as she gets slightly tipsy is ready to take on the world. You know the one, she'll start screaming and trying to fight just about anyone or anything that annoys her or such and such. I can't stand that.
Another one I hate is people asking me for law advice. Hey douche, there's a reason most lawyers don't work pro bono.

Yeah, I mean I have pet peeves and no-one likes a drunk bearing down on them all evening. But I fear some of the people here would completely blank me out if I tried to start up conversation with them, as if they're "too cool" for me, y'know? Not a dig at anyone in particular and believe me, I know when not to cross the line in social situations. I just come across people who because I haven't heard of one particular band or follow the works of a particular author etc. that I am somehow a lesser human being or incompetent. Thankfully, I no longer make the effort with people like that. I don't go to parties to be judged.
