Yup, it's Cheadle from everything I've read.. which at least he's still a really good actor. This is true, but the fanboy in me wanted Howard back. Physically, he was PERFECT, and he brought a quiet dignity to Rhodes that I'm not quite sure Cheadle can pull off.

I'll concede that, though in fairness I don't think they gave Howard enough to do for me to judge his Rhodey in a bigger role.
But then, while I've always liked James Rhodes, outside of it being a pretty cool suit, I can pretty much take or leave War Machine.
Though I will say it'll be cool with they do the inevitable scene of both suits having to fly and attack Mandarin, Crimson Dynamo or whoever.

I think Don Cheadle can pull off the role just fine. He's a damn fine actor. While Howard is a good actor as well, and did fine in the role, he just didn't do enough in the first one to enrapture me to him being the one and only Rhodey.

It's a shame he's being replaced.

I saw Iron Man in theaters twice, and I got it on DVD for Xmas. I actually like it better on DVD, and I have no idea what that says about me or the movie. It's a damn fine movie, and Iron Man was my favorite superhero growing up, but I like a lot of comic book movies more than I liked this, for some reason (though I still enjoyed IM quite a bit).
I'm looking forward to IM 2, and I have no problem with Don Cheadle playing Rhodey. I dunno, I always imagined Rhodey having a lower pitched voice than Terence Howard's, though he was good in the role overall. And, like others said, he really didn't do enough to make me stand up and say "THAT'S Rhodey!"

I never enjoyed Iron Man as a kid and I still avoid Iron Man comics but, damn, Iron Man was the best movie of 2008 by far.
