Was going through the older threads to find one that had what could be viewed as an inside joke between me and a friend from college.
Anyway, I posted a rant about a co-worker that threw a ball at the sports anchor on the air and got away with it. Read some of the later comments and since I could not reply, I felt I needed to explain myself
The reason I am bitter over this is that this guy gets away with everything and is quite disrupitve. He never takes responsibility for his mistakes (we all make them, but most of us admit we messed up).
Now yes, if Thursday the sports guy ends his segment hyping the Liberty Bowl (which ECU is in) and catches a football, that's one thing. The incident I was talking about was a person leaving his work station and doing something that makes the station look bad. My supervisor wanted him in my department, which is Master Control. To be in charge of making sure the on air quality is perfect (or as close to it) and not fooling around (as things can go screwy at any moment). A person that is unable to do a simple job of staying at a camera and moving it around should not be promoted to a job that requires changing satellites, and quality control.
The upside is that my supervisor is finally seeing who he is

That's weird, because around here, you get started with master control, and hope to get promoted to cameraman.

That's weird, because around here, you get started with master control, and hope to get promoted to cameraman. Same. Master's usually seen as the bottom of the ladder. Not as low as PA's, but certainly seen as a low-level job. I do see what you're getting at, Paul, but it's hard to sit in there and monitor at 8 hour stretches. But if the guy's never at his station, and this was something he just did on air that wasn't planned, then his ass should be shown the door. You just do not do something obviously disruptive on air and get away with it.

Yea, I actually forgot to mention the guy should have probably been fired on the spot if it was disturbing a broadcast.
