and as most of the UK members will know, this store is now closing down. I was looking for some bargains and everything was like 50% off as youd expect, but theyve proper marked everything way up so as youre not saving anything at all. Seriously near every dvd i looked at was advertised as being £20 which is pure BS, is this the same everywhere else round the country?
what i did find funny tho, theyre still trying to flog the hurricane/rosey twin packs which have constantly been 5-6 deep on the shelf since the characters were first on TV

Yeah I have noticed that their sale is relly BS. But then again all sales are like that. Expect the same from Zavvi.
But at the same time they NEED to make as much money right now that is possible. All the ones I've been in are even selling all the fixtures and fittings. Even the CCTV systems can be bought

ive never been in zavvi and until it came on the news that it too was closing i had no idea that it used to be virgin. Looking around the highstreet for the first time in ages tho, it reminded me why i buy off the internet, sites like play.com offer everything places like woolworths, zavvi etc do, but at a huge discount. Its not too suprising people are no longer shopping on the highstreet and shops are going into liquidation

Haha I also saw a Hurricane/Rosey twin pack in my Woolies. Guess no-one wants them without Super Stacey.

The one round here was closed today when I went past. There were just staff inside moving fittings around. There was loads of Rosey and Hurricane packs lying around for a long time in there lol, as well as Iron Sheiks and Nikolai Volkoffs.

I'm not surprised they went tits up, their shop in Reading was terrible.
They changed it so it had narrow isles at strange angles, if you came across a pensioner or pushchair it would take 5 minutes to reach the back of the store, once there you found what you were interested in was out of stock.

If I remember correctly, the Reading Woolworths was basically a shortcut for people to get to the Broad Street Mall quicker.

Yeah I feel bad for the tens of thousands of people losing their jobs but I'm suprised it's survived this long
Been in less and bought stuff than a handful of times myself over the course of my life

I think two entrances may have been before my time, I remember being able to cut through other stores though and you still can still walk through WH Smiths. I am impressed with your knowledge of Reading though, however you loose points by saying broad street mall instead of the (more comic) Butts Centre.

When you make bad business decisions like Woolies have, you pretty much deserve to go out of business. And I do know someone who worked at the one in Guildford and he pretty much agrees with me.

Milked the deal as far as we could. aside from the fact Woolowrths has been here since the 30s.. Does that mean the spice Girls are in their 70s? The Woolies Sale is crap, but I got a few good bargains World's Greatest Pro Wrestling Managers - £4 Roddy Piper's Boxset - £6.50 Sopranos season 1, 2 + 3 - £17.50 each Nirvana Unplugged DVD - £7.50 So I'm happy

The one near me (Canterbury) still has Highlanders, Cade & Murdoch, Deuce & Domino and Hurricane & Rosey figures to, as of yesterday.
On a side note, I worked in Zavvi as an Xmas temp, they called us in on Xmas Eve to tell us the administration news. Subsequently they weren't getting any new stock in, so I fear that it will go the same way as Woolies, but without various wrestling figures.
