This has most probably been posted many times before. But, having recently completed Gears of War 2 I thought things have progressed so much that maybe people have new favourite endings.
Oh yeah my new favourite ending has to be Gears of War 2. It really struck a chord in me.

I was always partial to the ending of FF IV (III here in the US), it showed what happened to all the characters through cutscenes during the credits.

I love Super Mario World. Simple listing of all the characters.

Ever since I saw this, it's been my favorite ending of all time:
Although MAD PROPS go out to Super Mario World!

The Godfather: The Game. Seeing myself as the Don of New York just had a certain satisfaction to it.

I may be alone on this but "link to the past" and "Ocarina of time". Especially seeing Talon and Ingo presumably drunk.

I really liked God Of War 2 ending.
The Titans begin their invasion of Olympus with Kratos, leaving you with a badass cliffhanger.

God of War 1 - Seeing Kratos as the new God of War God of War 2 - Seeing Kratos go back in time, save the Titans and then bring them back to the present time of the game and lead them up Mount Olympus Metal Gear Solid 3 - Such as sad ending, and then the end credits reveal by Ocelot.....awesome. Metal Gear Solid 4 - That is how you end a series. Shadow of the Colossus - Sad....but clearly gave hope for ICO Resident Evil Code: Veronica - Chris and Clare leaving together, brother & sister Silent Hill 2 - 4 Endings, all awesome
Now....one of the worse endings is Resident Evil 4. Leon...stupid idiot turning down Ashley's poon...

FF8 is definitely my favorite. I found the idea of the camcorder scenes ater the "regular" scenes truely awesome. Now, with that said... Max Payne and Hitman Blood Money had a really bad ass endings. Those are indeed very cool as well. Especially for Blood Money, considering it basically has an hidden ending. I marked out when I discovered it. Oh and, you know what's better than the ending of Max Payne? The ending of Max Payne 2 (not to mention that in this game as well, there's an alternate ending).

Metal Gear Solid 4 - That is how you end a series. With a cutscene that, even though it has about ten minutes (or less) of actual important content that we actually needed to see, lasts 45 minutes and may or may not bore anyone who is not an obsessed fan of the series to sleep?

No, the end credits graveyard cutscene. That's the true ending to the game, and it is awesome.

Ah. I thought that particular scene could easily have been trimmed down quite a bit as well and nothing of importance would have been lost, but to each his own. It was awesome at first and at the end, though.
