Either Warner Bros. is going to have to make a deal, or appeal. Which would definitely push back the release date.
Looks like Alan Moore's curse is working.

Are we sure this judge wasn't Alan Moore in disguise? Cause this kind of dick decision is something Alan Moore would pull off. Maybe Moore somehow saw an advanced screening, and it was damn near perfect to the graphic novel that Moore couldn't allow anyone else to see it.

Damn it, Warner Bros! Just settle out of court so the movie can be released on time!

He already said in an interview he placed a curse on the movie. This is why you don't mess with Alan Moore. Unless you're the Wachowski's. They managed to mess with him with impunity... He already said in an interview he placed a curse on the movie. This is why you don't mess with Alan Moore. Unless you're the Wachowski's. They managed to mess with him with impunity... Unless Speed Racer was Moore's revenge!? I think his curse was to make the movie bad and fail, but all signs point to the movie being f***ing awesome, so Moore has to delay the movie someway. |

Yes, I want to know as well, because all the trailers so far have had scenes that aside from small changes have been spot on to the graphic novel. Plus, as for the "Moore hate", the guy is a great writer, but he needs to get over himself a little bit. |

I'll give you three examples off the top of my head: 1) The Silk Spectre redesign is awful. It makes her look very sultry, very sexy, and almost too confident to remain true to the print character. Sally is "playing" superhero more than anyone else in the book, and in the movie, she appears to move like Angelina Jolie in Wanted. 2) Look at the lack of Dreiberg's pudgy belly and the way he acts more like a bad ass than just an upstanding citizen working within his means. Again, nothing like the comics. He's supposed to very intelligent but never in good shape. Again, that's one of the grounding characteristics of the character that separates him from the sort of the heroes that are being discussed in the '90s thread. 3) I don't want to dare discuss potential spoilers, but I've heard rumblings about a major change to the ending. I'll grant you that some of this sounds like nitpicking (Watchmen is, after all, my favorite book of all time, bar none), but I don't believe that the movie can be "damn near perfect" with these changes to the basic characters intact. |

That's like saying the 300 movie wasn't dead-on with the graphic novel, and the movie did get every...single....page in the graphic novel, and then had to buff up the movie another 30 or so minutes with the scenes back in Sparta that didn't happen in the graphic novel to make the movie longer. Then again 300 was like 1/25 the length of Watchmen, and as such Snyder is having to do the opposite of what he did with 300(fully adapt the graphic novel and add content, he had to instead fully adapt the graphic novel and then remove content). |

No real change, and we really haven't seen much of her "in action" in the trailers, just a few dramatic poses. 2) That's too much of a nitpick, really. 3) Yes, they changed the attack on New York City from a *spoilers way below* Giant monster attack to a nuclear explosion. Still, it carries the same effect, New York City goes bye-bye, millions die, everything else remained intact about the ending. *end spoilers* They are just slight changes. Another change that happened is Nite Owl II's fantasy of him and Silk Spectre II, in the movie, both will be clothed, instead of being buck naked. That would be like complaining about in 300 how none of the Spartans ran around with their dicks flopping around like in the graphic novel. |

I've read V for Vendetta and aside from understandably cutting some material to make the characters more "American sensibility" friendly it seemed to get the heart of the comic right. I liken it to the romanticism of historic events. Books even comic books are mainly written FOR your brain. Movies are made by and large exclusively for your eyes and frontal lobe. Read for your soul watch for your Id if that sums it up.

Also, on the subject of Moore being fussy about his work, keep in mind that this has potential to be the bastardization of a work he put a whole lot into (much like League or V For Vendetta or whatever else). Unlike the people who have made those adaptations, he knew what he was doing, too. There's a reason that the world will never see an official Catcher In The Rye movie as long as JD Salinger is alive. |

Alan Moore wouldn't try and stop it.
Moore is the type of person who just doesn't give a shit anymore, he's been screwed over so much that he just doesn't care.
What I think happened is that Rothman probably got into the judges head because Tom Rothman used to be a lawyer and people who go to law school tend to like on another a lot more than business men.
