Time for another tournament. This time it'll be Premier League footballers in a straight knock out tournament. In each match it will require 5 votes to win (this may be lowered if there is little interest). If a match goes 24 hours, it will end there and then. If it is a tie, the next person to vote after that has cast the deciding vote even if they've voted before. The final winner is who Wrestlecrap believe to be the best Premier League footballer. So without further ado: Round 1, Match 1: Jo Club: Manchester City Age: 21 Birthplace: Sao Paulo, Brazil Position: Striker Signed for club: July 3, 2008 Caps: 2 Previous clubs: Corinthians, CSKA Moscow vs. Michael Turner Club: Hull City Age: 25 Birthplace: London, England Position: Centre back Signed for club: July 2006 Caps: None Previous clubs: Charlton Athletic, Leyton Orient, Brentford So now, get voting!

IT'S NOT SOCCER DAMMIT! *ahem* Now that's out of the way, in terms of being the better Premier League player, Michael Turner wins this EASILY. Jo has been a bit of a flop since arriving from CSKA (where admittedly, he shone) but Turner is possibly the key reason why the Tigers are doing so well this season. If he keeps this form up for the whole season, I sense a move to a bigger club for him.

Soccer = abbreviation of 'Association Football' used commonly in the UK in the 50s when Soccer was first being exported in a major way to the US. It is a UK term for it, I don't get what the issue is.
Turner gets my vote here.

And I vote for Michael Turner. He must be doing something right considering Hull City's high standing in the league. Next match: Jack Rodwell Club: Everton Age: 17 Birthplace: Birkdale, England Position: Centre Back, Midfielder Signed for club: 2006 Caps: 0 Previous clubs: None vs. Gareth Bale Club: Tottenham Hotspur Age: 19 Birthplace: Cardiff, Wales Position: Left Back, Left Winger Signed for club: 25th May, 2007 Caps: 15 Previous clubs: Southampton

Randomness is the best way. Gareth Bale makes it through. And from now on in this first round, no stats and facts ( ), just names and clubs... Wayne Bridge (Chelsea) vs. Carlton Cole (West Ham United)

Wayne Bridge as far as I'm concerned. One of the best left backs about, but he clearly lacks ambition if he's content to sit on the bench the vast majority of the time.

Bridge. Best left back in the country, for some reason ignored for Ashley Cole who isn't half the defender.
