Damn how did this just happen. Stupid technology. I can't stand this stupid blu ray and HD crap anymore. They say it is better picture and all but who gives a crap? Seriously. Instead of making the actual movies and music better with less mediocreness and cliches all they are doing is updating their technology and being lazy. Until they can get me a freaking virtual reality HD Blu-Ray movie where I can kick Tom Hanks in the nuts as much as I want I say keep your stupid piece of trash Blu-Ray and HD. It is all about the picture and how expensive it is now and I hate it. they don't even care about the actual theme of a movie or the right sound of a song anymore. they just want money. Their just trying to sell me crap over and over again by updating the technology that they already have had for the last ten years.(I don't know that for fact but I wouldn't put it past them.) The bad thing is I'm thinking about finally dropping the CDs and getting an Ipod. I almost feel ashamed of doing it and being that douche with an Ipod but considering almost everyone has one now I think that image is finally starting to fade. I guess I won't feel so guilty if I put all my CDs on one Ipod. Funny thing is I also still listen to two cassettes. I have an old guns n roses use your illusions cassette and a Van Halen one. But I shall not get a Blu Ray player. An old school man's got to draw a line somewhere. DVD isn't obsolete yet so I say screw blu-ray.

Well I gave up on VHS tapes a long time ago but as far as dropping cds in favor of an Ipod I made the decision to do that and I'm kinda regretting wasting the money on an IPod. The reason is that my music files/mp3's sound like absolute ass on the IPod. CD's sound so much better. I'm thinking of returning the IPod and getting my money back. If your music files are not in FLAC or Apple lossless format then I say the IPod isnt worth it. If your music files are ripped at 128/256/320 kbps then you will notice a substantial difference when compared to a CD. All my files sound like crap in the IPod because they werent ripped in a better quality format. So yeah, if your files are 128/256/320 kbps AAC mp4 format they wont sound nearly as good as a CD or files in FLAC or Apple lossless format. Unless you music files are ripped in a very high quality format the IPod isnt worth the money unless you dont mind crappy sounding mp3s.

I could care less about an ipod myself so unless I'm forced to change, I'm never dropping cds. And I could care less about blu-ray either. I don't care how good it makes it look, I just care about watching the damn movie...so long live dvd....

I think ITunes 8 ruined the quality of my music files. They seem to sound worse since I upgraded. Honestly, ITunes 8 is one steaming pile of crappy, useless doo doo and I wish I had stayed at ITunes 7. I thought of downgrading back but its too late now. Honestly, this ITunes/IPod technology that everyone loves is vastly overrated and inferior and I wouldnt recommed it to anyone. I got a bleepin pink screen now for ITunes because theres a bug in ITunes 8 that Apple refuses to fix.

For your comments about movies, put it this way: Ther will always be shitty movies and great movies, you just have to know what to avoid and what to look for. Blu-Ray makes the great movies that much better.

I've never had a problem with my iPod, and my mp3s sound absolutely great, and they're not ripped in super high quality or FLAC or anything.
The biggest issue I've had with it is it occasionally freezes when I plug it into my computer, and that's not exactly a huge deal.

I still listen to Cassettes, as a matter of fact. I still use my VHS when I want to watch some wrestling, however I feel that I may have to spend the $100 for a craptacular DVD Recorder soon since they stopped making VHS tapes now.

As long as your not the douche who walks around stores with his ipod going, and then running into people because he can't hear anything, then your ok with me.
Seriously, do you have to have a soundtrack to walk around Wal Mart?

We've reached the point where CDs are considered old school? I'm so out of touch.

Seriously, do you have to have a soundtrack to walk around Wal Mart? I've done that, but I actually pay attention to where the hell I'm going when I'm in a place where there are LOTS OF PEOPLE. It's not so much ipods that cause it as it is a gigantic lack of common courtesy and giving a f***.

Screw ipods, i got no use for them. Its a primarily portable piece of technology, replacement for a walkman/discman. Continually using headphones isn't good for your ears. I still listen to CDs, at a quality and volume that I like at home. I have loads of cassette tapes and listen to them in much the same way. Still watch VHS tapes in my collection and not going to change from DVDs to Blu-Ray anytime soon. The jump from VHS to DVD was a big one, radically different technology; digital, picture quality improvement, tracks, menus, extra disc features, it changed home viewing substantially. Where's the big upgrade with Blu-Ray? Even more improved picture? Is there anything else? Its a totally minor change, doesn't seem worthwhile enough to me.

VHS sucks. Always has. Especially when DVD came along and totally blew them out of the water. Even 'Chapter Selection' was a huge improvement on VHS. Plus, remember those damn white lines you'd get running through the picture sometimes? Ugh.
I reckon DeanNJN puts it best here ... if you have a good system, watching movies on Blu Ray just improves them, as long as you're watching a movie that's actually, you know, good.

Yeah, DVD was a necessary step up from VHS. VHS was just a terrible format. It was definitely necessary for when it was popular...but damn is it ever bad.
Blu-Ray...yeah, it's nice, but only if you have a system that makes it so. A regular-ass TV isn't gonna do anything for Blu-Ray.

For me, I use Exact Audio Copy with the latest version of LAME. For lossless copies, I use FLAC.

Seriously, do you have to have a soundtrack to walk around Wal Mart? Why would someone not want to listen to music wherever they go? As long as you're paying attention there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm thinking of buying a Betamax once the store I go to gets one that works...
They have 20 and not a single one works.

I love MP3 players/iPods. Yeah, C.D.s had great quality but, I cannot carry them with me when I want to go for a walk or am away from the house/car. Hell, in the car it's safer as I am not searching for C.D.s anymore. As far as sound goes, I haven't had a problem.
With the high-def stuff, I don't see a reason to upgrade as long as I have a standard-def TV and it works. I have a 360 and PS3 but, that is for games since they stopped making ones I want to play on the older systems.
I actually found some blank VHS today at a Circuit City and was amazed. I thought about buying them but, I don't have/cannot find a working VCR so there was no real reason.

Im aware that there are others methods to use but I chose Itunes anyway. Anyway, I returned my IPod and got my 250 + bucks back but I'm still using ITunes for music because its too late to change now. I may buy an IPod back again at some point I'm not sure.

lol, I had myself what is either an "old school" or just "old" moment again this week. I felt all nostalgic, so I busted out some old cassettes and threw them in the stereo. I was then asked more than once what they were.
