As long as your not the douche who walks around stores with his ipod going, and then running into people because he can't hear anything, then your ok with me. Seriously, do you have to have a soundtrack to walk around Wal Mart? Why would someone not want to listen to music wherever they go? As long as you're paying attention there's nothing wrong with that. Well, I guess you'll find out the day a madman comes crashing into the store with an AK-47, and someone yells "HEY! GET DOWN!" and you don't hear them cause you're too busy listening to music and bopping to your own personal soundtrack. At least, that's what I'm afraid will happen if I dare to take my iPod shopping with me. I want ALL my senses unobstructed when I'm out in public. I don't wear sunglasses that play a movie on them, so why should I obstruct my sense of hearing? I NEED to hear what's going on around me. Your mileage may vary.
