I was going to play my PS3 in which I hardly ever played for the longest time and I realized something is wrong. The video and sound doesn't show on my TV unless if I use the DIM cable, I only get the sound of the PS3. I'm pretty sure my PS3 is fine but the red, white, yellow cables don't work but I'm not sure. I tested this out on three TV's today and none of them work while something like the Game cube works on all three.
If anyone is familiar with this problem am I right? Do I just go to the Sony store and exchange a new PS3 plug in Red, White, Yellow cables or do I have to order them? Or am I completly wrong?

I assume by DIM cable you mean HDMI... Press and hold the power button for I think 7 seconds, it will beep a second time. That will reset everything. If you have it set to say, 1080p through HDMI, and then hook up the Standard Video (red, white, yellow) cables, the output won't work. So, reset it, and tell it to use the analog outputs (and NOT component or YbYpYc or whatever), and set it to 480i which is what the "yellow" cable will support. You will NOT get high quality video through that cable, by the way

Check it's not the cable. If you have a PS2, use the cable from that.
AV cables never last very long

For I'm at my hometown staying at the my parents house during the holiday break and I did set it up for 1080 play for my dads fancy new TV instead of the old 20 year old TV at my place. Even though I don't think the HDMI cable was plugged in or was it. I'm not sure for I did bring the HDMI cable to my friends TV and it still didn't work but I think your solution is the solution. Thank you very much friend I'll try it out tommorow after I sleep and inform you if it works.

My buddy let me borrow his PS3, and it was set to 1080p, my TV only supports 720p/1080i, so I had to do it, even using the HDMI cable, heh. Basically, the PS3 is off, and when you turn it on you hold it until the second beep (which indicates the reset). Even if you set it to say, 1080i or 720p through the component connection, your standard red/white/yellow cable can't handle that, so... yeah, plenty of ways to mess up your video output on a PS3
