I gonna take a sightly different tact and give to characters that I liked but whose deaths were necessary for the narative structure instead of those character I was happy to see dead. Wash in Serenity and Little Bill in Boogie Nights. With Wash being killed it showed that Wheadon was willing to kill any of his characters in the Reaver fight. Granted Book had all ready been killed, but Book was old and a secondary character in the film. With Boogie Nights PT Anderson used Little Bill killing his wife and then comitting sucide to show that the happy goofy 70's porno section of the movie was ending and the heavy drug use early 80's section of the film was begining. It transtioned the tone from goofy light to dark. While these characters may not have deserved to die from the perspective of the audience they did deserve to die in the eyes of the filmakers.

Anyone who has sex with an incredibly hot woman in a horror movie. Bastards. But the Horror Movie Bylaws say that if you get laid in a horror movie, that increases your chance of dying 95.69%. So everything usually works out anyways.

sticking with the remake of dawn of the dead, the idiot who brought a chainsaw into an enclosed vehicle well he was aiming it outside to fight off zombies. it was a cool idea technically, but when he got hit or something he brought it back in and what happened, happened. in no way was it a cool idea, what was the point of putting the whole crew in jeapody to kill a few zombies on the side of a reinforced tank? youre in a swarm, once you kill those zombies more will replace them. Without that shitty chainsaw hole they could have made the armour reinforced

Buttercup, the reason for the chainsaws and chainsaw slots is, a horde of zombies is pretty f***ing heavy. If they started gathering on the outside of the bus, the bus could've been slowed to a halt, or even tipped over, so they cut the bastards down before they even had a chance to do either.

I'm also going to modify the original intent of the OP - sorry, man, I gotta get something off my chest.
Amy Ryan's character in Gone Baby Gone (and man, what an awesome movie that is - the movie should have been nominated for Best Picture, and I think Juno could have been easily yanked from that honor to make room for it). As the movie's final scene played out, I actually expected Casey Affleck to kill her...but it didn't come.

Anybody in a horror movie that leaves the house then goes back in. Dude, my library card's in there! That mean ol' Flabber could find it and kill me next time I go there!
