I have been a fan of the 2003 TMNT. I like how it came off as being darker without being brooding or nonsensical. Though the Fast Foward was bull. I didn't watch that.

From the article "The prohibition against the depiction of anti-social elements often prompted conformist stories, such as in the Smurfs series, where almost any individual initiative often resulted in trouble for the group and therefore had to be avoided."
And that is why the Buddy Bears on Garfield and Friends is pure genious by basically crapping all over this trend.
Speaking of this whole Spiderman, didn't one incarnation of the cartoon have Stan Lee introduce each episode? Or am I thinking of the Fantastic Four cartoon?

Stan Lee narrating 1980s Incredible Hulk animated series, an episode of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, and the 1989 X-Men animated series pilot titled Pryde of the X-Men.
