...for rape charges . sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3795106Now, I never actually played any sport in my High School, but everyone knew who this guy was., and he didn't seem like crazed maniac. Its kind of a terrifying to know that someone is actually capable of this, and even more terrifying to know that you saw the guy pretty much every day. Messed up world, huh?

It is terrifying that anybody is capable of that. Rape is still rape at the end of the day.

It is terrifying that anybody is capable of that. Rape is still rape at the end of the day. Not really. Rape in the usual context is a violent act where a person forces themselves sexually onto the victim. Most times it causes sever physical and emotional damage to the victim. In this case however it could be as simple as the man having consensual sex with a person under 18. The report said the person in question was older then 14. Consensual statutory rape while sometimes creepy, is not even in the same ball park as conventional rape.

Well, never mind then. I guess its just bizarre cause you think something like this would never happen, and bam, right in your former hometown. Crazy.

Yeah I know how you feel. One of my own high school football coaches was charged with statutory rape after having sex with a 17 year old student. Ruined his teaching/coaching career. Then as soon as she turned 18 they got married had some kids, and are both still active in the community. Very strange to say the least.

Grown men thinking it's OK to f*** teenagers is pretty terrifying.

^Give this man a medal, it should never be acceptable for grown men to sex up young people, consensual or not.

If only it were a younger, hotter female teacher.

^Give this man a medal, it should never be acceptable for grown men to sex up young people, consensual or not. Really it just depends. In the cases mentioned I think that the coaches/teachers went over the line mostly because they were in a position of trust, and abused the authority they had to start relationships with kids they were supposed to be educating. On the flip side however there are cases where things work out just fine. Two of my aunts were married at 17 right out of high school to men who where 22 and 24 respectively. Both are still happily married living the American dream. I don't think all relationships between a "child", and "adult" are wrong or creepy. The cases vary upon several factors. An 18 year old in a relationship with a 17 year should not be in the same league as a 12 year old being raped by her 40 year old uncle.

An 18 year old in a relationship with a 17 year should not be in the same league as a 12 year old being raped by her 40 year old uncle. I agree with the old-timey grappler on the gist of his point. In the US the age of consent is a state-by-state determination. The majority (31 of 50, plus D.C.) of states consider sixteen to be the age of consent, with seven at seventeen and twelve at eighteen. Massachusetts is among those that sets the age of consent at sixteen. However, there is another law in the Commonwealth stating that "Whoever induces any person under 18 years of age of chaste life to have unlawful sexual intercourse shall be punished." So, apparently, the coach in question either: a) raped anyone between 15-17 b) had illegal consensual sex with a 15 year old c) took the virginity of a 15-17 year old in a consensual manner Obviously, A is worth a stiff prison term, etc. B is creepy, more than anything else. Who does this guy think he is, Mark Chmura? Does anyone really trust a 15-year-old (esp. a girl) to make a good decision about what to eat for lunch? Then why should she be able to make a good decision about boning a former football player who works at the high school. C seems to be an odd law, in that prior acts of the victim can be used in a positive way, such that an accused rapist in this case needs to make his defense a character assassination and prove the poor girl (or boy) was already putting out. Does the prosecution have the unbleached sheets? I understand the purpose of the law, but it seems to be an equal protection violation. Major point in all of this: hopefully, whatever the case, justice is served. Be that jail time or acquittal, let it happen.

Once again, I am on the same wavelength as Frank Gotch (what are the odds, it seems to be happening more and more...)
During our First Term Airman training (a mandatory course you have to take when you arrive at your first military base), we are drilled with the info that you have to be VERY careful with where you... uh... insert clever analogy for sex, as you may be sleeping with a chick who is 15 who dresses, looks, and acts 19+. In a city like Cheyenne, it happens more often than not.

I think its a bit odd, considering the man had exchanged 500 messages, and apparently when the teen in question had told him that she can no longer see him, he had said that "he loved her."
I know age difference and all, but you're telling me that 44 year old man having sex with a girl under 16 isn't creepy at some range? Its pretty terrifying, cause I can't imagine how I'd feel if that were my daughter on that end.

Damn.
My elementary gym teacher was actually a gym teacher at my mom's high school. He was switched to several schools over the years due to being "hands on" with a few high schoolers. Apparently he said something to my mom once, but her older brother threatened him. From what I gather, he finally changed school districts or else retired.
Then the computer-tech of our school got to retire by checking into rehab in another state for "alcoholism" which happened just after he was stung for buying and selling coke and heroin in the community park (and from what a lot of people said the other high school as well), using heroin, and having hundreds of tapes from the dressing rooms. He never got any charges out of it, as apparently had they stuck it to him, over half the cops in the area would've been taken into as he was buying the drugs they got from busts.
Oh, and my high school gym and health teacher was fired for having sex in the back of a school bus during a soccer game with his gf. For some stupid reason, the office decided to tell us he was fired for being drunk on the back of the bus instead, which was funny... because we were going over alcohol in health class. But ultimately it was sad, as he was a really good and nice teacher. Although I guess he made his own bed...
in the back of that bus.

For statutory rape the girl could even have been the age of consent. If he's a teacher the charge comes from the abuse of power over someone he had a duty of care toward.
