I just don't know. I guess they'll have Hayden Pannetiere as Ginger.

I remember they kicked around the idea in the 80's it has a steallar prospective cast, just wish i could remember all of them. all I do remember is John candy as the Skipper and I think Rick Moranis as Gilligan, maybe-seemed like a lot of Second city and SNL related actors

I'm skeptical, but as long as the actual series creator is involved and has a say in production, well who are we to argue?

I nominate Natalie Portman as Mary-Ann. I'm skeptical, but as long as the actual series creator is involved and has a say in production, well who are we to argue? Example 1: See Star Wars. Sorry, had to say it.

If you don't like this movie version of Gilligans Island there is a porno parody of Gilligans Island to be released.
Obviously no connection to the makers of this film.

But Michael Cera as Gilligan? That would never work. He still looks like a 15-year-old kid.

But Cera has pretty much been typecast as the smarmy teenager, which doesn't fit with Gilligan's loveable goof character.

Oh, and they better work in a scene where Mary Ann gets stoned.

As a fan of the original TV series I thought the silliness of it was its appeal.
I guess a movie adaption wouldn't be bad as long as its not being made to solely make fun of the show and characters like The Brady Bunch movies did.
As for who should play the characters I don't know maybe they should cast some unknowns.

Topher Grace as Gilligan
Micheal Caine as the Professor
James Avery as the Skipper
And for the record the Brady Bunch movies were awesome.

The timing is right, with shows like Lost on the air, it is perfect timing.

Well, if "The Dukes of Hazzard" taught us anything, it's that every TV show makes a great movie that doesn't bastardize the original.

I actually thought that was what made those movies funny. After years of Full House and The Cosby Show stinkin' up the airwaves there was no way in hell anyone past the age of 6 would sit through a whole movie of such banal sappiness being played straight up.

How do they get away with this? Using the likenesses and all. I heard they did a Brady Bunch one too-that's another Schwartz production
