I agree about Metallica. There new album was a huge improvement from St. Anger. They really turned it around to the right direction with Death Magnetic. They standout this year because of it, that and I think it also because I so them live also. So they got more in my head. Returns from both Metallica and AC/DC rocked my world this year, as did new material from Serj Tankian and Katy Perry.

Unless he's released something I'm totally unaware of.

The Fall of Troy Kanye West Protest the Hero Weezer Reiterating these. I was never a huge Weezer fan, but everything I've heard from that Album has been Gold. Protest The Hero matured a LOT in a big way, and that CD covered mostly the first half the year for purchases. The Fall of Troy released an updated (with higher production values!) version of their Ghostship EP (Which they are currently touring in support of, see them, see them now). I need to get it, but the live experience was something of a Prog-rock freak out the likes of which you've never seen! Kings of Leon I've grown to like a helluva lot more with each listen, and I'll say it is one of the best "pure" rock releases this year. Not to be neglected: TV on the Radio came out with Dear Science. Laden with their catchy brand of art-rock. Alas most of my purchases haven't been recent stuff. Though admittedly, El-P's I'll Sleep When You're Dead from last year was such a good album it carried over, and dominated the competition this year.

And yeah, I'll Sleep When You're Dead is just an absolutely great album. It still gets a lot of plays from me.

I daresay one of the best rappers out there right now.

And yeah, thanks again for introducing me

And yeah, thanks again for introducing me I lean to "Tasmanian Pain Coaster," and "Poisenville Kids No Win/Reprise." But "Draconian Love Song," is a brilliantly done concept. Also for everyone's consideration. The Raconteurs. Sleepercar.

I've never heard Sleepercar, but The Raconteurs are pretty great. I have Consolers of the Lonely, but I haven't gotten around to listening to every track yet. What I've heard though was definitely great stuff.

What I've heard though was definitely great stuff. Sleepercar is alt-country to alt-rock. It's a pretty good album, and was something that was played a lot during the summer, as it was perfect lazy summer music.

Hold the phone. Reggie had a new album this year?! Reggie And The Full Effect? Yes. Last Stop: Crappy Town. It's supposedly the last Reggie album ever. It came out in May or June. I can't remember which. It's a little harder and angrier than Reggie's earlier stuff but it's still a great album.

Eye Alaska. Their EP "Yellow and Elephant" is my album of the year, which is weird because an EP isn't really an album, but I think it's THAT damn good.
Check them out if you get a chance.
