Okay, we all hear and read all the criticisms at the various announcers in sports, so let's go to the other side of the coin. Which sports announcer is your favorite? It can be either the play by play guy or the color guy, it doesn't matter.
My pick would be TNT's Kevin Harlan. I've been listening to him for the last 8 years and prefer him to the other announcers. That and every time a Bills game is actually shown in my neck of the woods, he seems to be the announcer.

It is definitely Kevin Harlan, followed by Gorilla Monsoon/Heenan.

As far as play by play, Gus Johnson. Does CBS NFL Games. Love listening to him call games.
Color guy, I love Jeff Van Gundy. I find him tremendously entertaining.

I do to. And his son, Skip. Only Braves fans (who listened to the radio) will most likely get this, but: "Don't step on down power lines!"

Fred Cusick.Local Boston guy who did the Bruins hockey games for 25 years on Channel 38. In his 80's now, he officially retired a couple years ago. I've been able to accept transitions between sports announcers - baseball, football, basketball, wrestling, etc - but I've never been able to enjoy a Bruins game since Cusick left. Sucks this year especially, since I wanna watch how well the Bruins are doing but...I just can't do it...

Larry Munson. He does radio for Georgia Bulldogs football. There are legends and then there's Larry Munson.
Honorable mention goes to Brent Musburger, Brad Nessler, Pat Summerall, and if you count pro wrestling, Gorilla Monsoon.

They're slightly homers (but that's their job...), but they don't mind dishing out credit to the other guys and calling it straight. Same with the CSN guys. I haaaaaaaaaaaate TNT/TBS, FOX and CBS announcers though. Half the time they don't know what the f*** they're talking about, the other half they just make up.

Martin Tyler. Used to like old school John Motson, before he became a parody of himself in recent years.

Gary Cohen who does play by play for the Mets on SNY. He can get a little too excited sometimes but he's very knowledgeable about baseball.
Him + Keith Hernandez on color commentary=gold.

Madden and Summerall. Not the best combo of all time, but I found them so damn entertaining not to mention they were the guys I grew up listening to when watching the NFL.

Damn it, I like Gus Johnson a lot. Makes any game sound 100x more exciting than in some cases it has any right to be.
