From the other thread
Broncos owner Pat Bowlen reportedly decided to fire coach Mike Shanahan after Shanny refused to fire defensive coordinator Bob Slowik.
And Asked his thoughts on Mike Shanahan's firing Tuesday, Jay Cutler said he's "not happy about it" and "shocked."

Mike hasn't done **** the last few seasons. He's made bad draft picks and free agent signings, plus his system got stale in Denver. He's still a very good coach, just not for Denver.

I think Shanahan's firing was good considering Denver has been mediocre the past few years. He can still coach but it's gotta be elsewhere.
I was very surprised by Eric Mangini's firing because he had TWO winning seasons in THREE years. Us here in Cincinnati would KILL for that. Literally kill. Well maybe.
Romeo Crennel's firing along with Phil Savage were well deserved... both sucked horribly.
And obviously the Rod Marinelli firing wasn't a surprise. One win in two seasons... ouch.
But I really hope Marvin Lewis gets CANNED BIG TIME. I can not stand that guy for one second. He doesn't even stand up for his own players like earlier in the season when Whitworth and Henderson of the Jags got in a fight. The guy tried GAUGING Whitworths eyes out so Whitworth threw punches. Both got fined 10K which is BULL. What is the guy supposed to do when Henderson ripped his helmet off and clawed at his eyes? f***ing stupid ass NFL. Plus he's a terrible coach and never yells at his players. His excuse is that they "always tried their hardest." He's a joke of a coach. But as everyone in Cincinnati should know, the Bengals will never be good until Owner, President, and GM Mike Brown steps down... He acts as if he's like his dad Paul Brown. Mike Brown is an idiot.
For those who didn't see the scuffle, here it is.

When your team only makes one playoff appearance in your 19 seasons as owner, it should be a clear sign that it is time to go and give the team to someone else.

Yeah but what's unfortunate is that his daughter Katie Blackburn (Also an idiot; Signs people to ridiculous contracts) is next in line.

While I think Shanahan deserves it, I honestly did not see this coming. That collapse of theirs rests solely on Mike's shoulders though, with the abyss of talent in their defense and his refusal to get rid of their DC. Big shocker regardless.
Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

And obviously the Rod Marinelli firing wasn't a surprise. One win in two seasons... ouch. Not quite. He lost 23 out of his last 24. That's 1 win in a season and a half. He actually won 6 games in the first half before they collapsed horribly. So in his last two years he was 7-25, which is still bad.

Will be interesting to see where he ends up. I either have him or Mike Martz pegged for the open Seattle Seahawks job. Holmgren just retired and they need a good coach to keep hope alive in seattle, otherwise, we have a repeat of 2008. A year which was the worst for a Seattle Sports Fan.

Didn't Holmgren already name a replacement? The old Falcons coach, I believe. I'd love either of the Mikes to come to Seattle though. That would be crazy if we got Shanny, since Mike H and him faced each other in the superbowl.

Dear Mr. Shanahan:
I know you have some packing to do but we thought we'd let you know that despite the economic blight and organtizational disaster we have, the door is still open for you. After all, the winter doesn't start as early here as it does in Denver and the season is over sooner so you would be able to get back to your family sooner. Also, when you retire you'd get a Ford dealership. Please consider our offer and we'll consider not screwing up the 2009 Draft.
Sincerely, The Detroit Lions

Nut really could you blame Mike Shanny for not wanting to fire the DC?
Look at the defense! Name any defensive coordinator that could've made the Denver defense look good. Not a single damn DC in the NFL could make the Denver defense look even decent.

That's like saying Jerry Jones or Wade Phillips to find an OC that could actually use Dallas' offense. The way they were set up no one could have helped.

I did think it was something like one win in a season and a half but I was too lazy to do the research. Thanks for correcting me though.

Well, considering he put that D together, he should have found one. That's like saying Jerry Jones or Wade Phillips to find an OC that could actually use Dallas' offense. The way they were set up no one could have helped. That's kinda my point. He solely had the responsibility to create a working group and has failed for several years now. When he saw this group sucked, he should have made it better since it was his job, instead he kept ignoring it or throwing names at it.

And I still don't get the dropping Jake The Snake for Jay Cutler when Jake was still pretty good. Oh well. What's done is done. Whatever team gets him is going to be happy and lucky.
